Up early, all packed...

Meg the Black Cat reckoned I ought to just stay at home...

But it was out into the early morning sun with the Exec Producer...

...for a lift into Waverley Station in time for the 8am train to London...

The beast was about its business on the East Coast Line...

Past North Berwick...

...and the Bass Rock...

...finishing off Fermat's Last Theorem...

...through Alnmouth...

..and on to Newcastle...

Durham...

Darlington...

York...

Doncaster...

Newark Northgate (no, I'd never heard of it either - but change here for Lincoln apparently)...

On through Peterborough...

...and into King's Cross bang on time...

..as witnessed by the clock on St Pancras, next door...

To my hotel, the Europa in nearby Argyle Square...

...to a room fit for a ki...

...well for an experimental music audient, doing things on the cheap, anyway...

Out and passed the street in which is situated the hotel where I overnighted last May for the UK concert at Chelsea...

...on into Marchmont Street...

...and through Russell Square...

...past the British Museum - for my sins, I did not go in...

...but pressed on instead to Foyle's Bookshop - to peruse their classical and Ray's jazz CDs...

At Ray's, a disc by Gary Husband (coincidentally the drummer at last year's UK gig) of piano interpretations of the music of Allan Holdsworth (coincidentally ex-UK) was procured, despite the staff's concerted efforts to refuse to accept a Scottish £20 note...

On into Soho and Berwick Street - in Reckless, the before today not known about latest release by ex-Madredeus chanteuse, Teresa Salgueira, was taken onboard while, in the nearby Record Exchange, discs by Tru Thoughts artists Hidden Orchestra and Yannah Valdevit joined the fray..

Sister Ray did not entice this time around and I made my way on down over Piccadilly to Trafalgar Square...

In St Martin's in the Field, a rehearsal for tonight's Vivaldi Flute Concertos concert was underway and much enjoyed...

A pavement coffee watching the Friday night world go by...

Then, to a new-to-me record shop, Phonica - where the fair was mainly beats oriented...

A very enjoyable time was spent here and promos by Blue Hawaii, Voigt & Voigt, Brandt Brauer Frick, Roedelius (with Lloyd Cole!), The Sign of Four, Trixie Whitley and Breathless were picked up for next to nothing, along with a £10 2CD set celebrating 20 years of German label Kompakt...

On Oxford Street, a beaver was spotted...

...and a plane flew towards Centre Point as I made my way back to the hotel...

...in the gathering twilight...

...for some initial listening...

Late on, out into the night for a quick drink at the nearby Queen's Head and some sustenance for the weekend ahead...

More listening before an around 2am sack hitting scenario...

A good day...
