Bunkers not a klinking clock...

Playlist
Various - Holiday Acquisitions

Up to a sunny day with sky blue skies...

Over the road...

...for croissants and apple pockets...

...with home brewed coffee...

This morning, this belltower was our goal...

...situated next to the Paris Gate...

The platform atop the belltower afforded excellent views of the city...

We walked down, having "climbed" via the lift...

Giants founded Lille, the story goes...

Back on Terra Firma...

And coffee required...

Served by a rather finely dressed gentleman...

Round the corner was the Harmonia Mundi shop, where i bought a very odd indeed (but highly enjoyable) double jazz Cd by Bernica Octet and a disc of percussion pieces by Xenakis...

Flower market in the square today...

No sign of Beelzebub today...

But a weeping sun...

To le Cafe Livres for lunch...

A charming wee place, run by a lady who had spent several years living and working in Glasgow...

A couple of books were bought and will no doubt be struggled with for a time before being filed away...

Antoine De St Exupery and Jean Cocteau - good choices opined the owners...

After lunch coffee and relaxing...

...before walking on to find the birthplace of General de Gaul...

A tour with interesting commentary...

At this point, cakes were obviously required...

..and the purchases were duly carried home to be enjoyed in the late afternoon sun streaming through the windows of our apartment...

...before conking out whilst listening to holiday purchases...

...and watching a wee bit TV...

Out into the evening...

Drinks in the nearby square...

...followed by more drinks at Monk's Cafe...

...where a punk gig was taking place in the basement...

I thought these were headliners Klink Clock...

Very impressive - playing to a crowd of 18 which packed our end of the tiny room...

But, they were in fact support act Rollin' Bunkers...

...as I discovered upon buying their CD...

We left, bearing the marks of entry, not realising Klink Clock were to follow...

Pizza for a very late tea...

..and home through the darkness...

...with fireworks on the way...

Late to bed again...

Highlight of the Day : Basement punk rock...
