Au revoir la tortue...

Playlist
Various - Holiday Acquisitions

Sunny again...

Glinting on nearby silverware...

To the market today...

Nothing other than coffee purchased...

And a walk to the north of town...

...past a poster for last night's gig...

...and an impressive church...

A stop off at the botanical garden...

...and on into the park...

...over the water into the Fields of Mars...

.. and the still used barracks inside the citadel...

..whose moat is home to wildlife...

...and which we walked around...

...noting notable things on the way...

...including a monument to war hero Leon Trulin...

...a nice wee butterfly...

...and a turtle - just floating by, sunning itself on a lump of wood...

...and a duckling...

..and its sibling...

...and another...

...and one more, plus mum...

We, like a nearby small boy and his mum, who also enjoyed the spectacle, said "Au revoir la tortue" and, the circuit completed, we walked back the way we'd come, resting for a bit inside the impressive church...

...before buying baguettes and very tasty chocolate eclairs for lunch back at the apartment...

Back out into the sun...

...and, ppst a visit to OCD, where a 2CD set by Danish singer Agnes Obel was obtained, to Le Monde Moderne again...

..where, at the next table, an old industrialist was being interviewed for Saturday's La Voix du Nord...

He got talking to us and was very interested in our views on the EU and on Scottish Independence...

He left us to walk home but returned to draw our attention to what he thought was a demonstration against gay marriage...

We wondered why anti gay protesters would all be carrying trombones...

Turned out it was almost every child and teenager enrolled at the local music college who studied trombone...

They had gathered together to promote a concert tonight by performing trombone versions of James Brown's "I Feel Good" and Psy's "Gangham Style"...

A quick nip into FNAC and the latest album by long time favourite Francoise Hardy was added to the collection...

As we walked home, we found this Banksy-like portrait of Meg the Black Cat...

Having perused the What's On guide, we made our way out for dinner...

...at the nearby The Cat in the Clock...

Accompanied for me by some tasty Belgian cherry beer...

...and then on to a nearby pub/club for some interesting electronic music by Nanoohm...

This piece on the wall of the venue was enjoyed by your correspondent - as was the music...

A free CD was received given we happened to be the only audients...

Home late once more...

Another good day...

Highlight of the Day : A relaxing walk around the Citadel...
