Up at a ridculous 4:30 am...

Kept the PC off and went to the back room with Meg the Black Cat to work on lyrics...

A few sketches...

Downstairs, listening to Mr Ginastera's works...

At 8, fired up the machines and started working again on the ideas for the new LP...

At 10, out into the morning sunshine...

Parked in a Georgian Terrace...

...and off to Pattisserie Florentin for a croissant and a coffee...

The nearby gardens reflected the autumnal weather...

Up into town where new slippers were obtained for both of us - cosy - new gloves for both of us too - also cosy - and, as Anne made her way to the opticians for contact lens stuff, I walked under the Primark crane...

...to Fopp, where some Miles Davis and some classical music were partaken of...

Anne rejoined me and a couple of comedy DVDs were also purchased with a view to some much needed cheering up....

Back along to the car via a season-illustrating Charlotte Square...

..and on to a retail park to purchase a big bag of rocksalt re the inevitably oncoming snow, along with a new Electric Blanket...

Our noses were pulled by the widescreen camera...

As we arrived home, we heard migrating geese overhead - an enjoyable yet desolate sound...

Worked again on some ideas as Anne tracked the football (Queens now bottom of the league)...

At 3:30, to the hospital, where I found Pam much improved from yesterday (although of course all is relative)...

But she was responsive and managed a couple of short sentences - a big improvement on yesterday's almost utter silence in the afternoon...

We were buoyed by a visit from our old chum Paul Reynolds, who entertained us with his stories...

And, unlike the other day, Pam remembered who Paul McCartney was - she used to love him in the 70's...

She even managed a wave as we left - unthinkable yesterday afternoon...

Tomorrow, Paul (Reynolds not McCartney) is off to Portsmouth and then, to sea...

Coincidentaly, comedian chum Jim Park is also in Protsmouth right now...

To Tesco for ingredients for tonight's culinary session - at Anne's request, I made Jambalya while she watched "Strictly"...

The pot was subjected to this tiny beauty, grown on our own kitchen window sill by the Exec Producer herself...

The results were deemed extremely tasty...

"Merlin" was enjoyed...

A call from Pam's chum Debs, rather depressed after yesterday's visit - understandably - but I tried to cheer her up with tales of today's encounter - probably to no avail...

"Match of the Day" - soundtracked by Halloween, Alaska on Youtube - they are coming to Edinburgh in a week or so - I may go along - they feature the Bad Plus' drummer Dave King and are rather good...

To bed with their 2nd LP in the cans...

Highlight of the Day : Time spent with Annie / Pam a bit better...
