Get off your high horse, fatty...

Playlist
It Bites - It Happened One Night
Dutch Uncles - Cadenza
Dutch Uncles - Live EP
Brian Eno - Drums Between the Bells
Yes - Fly From Here
Various - Wondrous Stories (4CD)

The day was soundtracked by live It Bites...

The building continues...

A trip to Fopp at lunchtime and the new discs by Yes and Brian Eno were acquired, along with, to lower the average outlay (£3 versus 2x£10), an album from just a couple of months ago, including a free live EP, by Mancunian prog-not-proggers, Dutch Uncles...

Said Manc boys impressed while Eno is quite brilliant (as ever) and Yes lives up to my high expectations...

Of course, I already had the Yes album, having downloaded it illegally on Friday - but the fact that I shelled out £10 for the real thing today puts a lie to the old free downloads are killing music argument...

If people really, really want your music, in a nice package, they will pay for it...

I know this myself from people buying CBQ CDS when they could easily download every track for free from the panels to the right of this very post...

Anyway, high horse dismounted...

Good times...

The evening was spent listening, ripping and transferring...

Highlight of the Day : New music from two faves and a great discovery...

PS Nearly deleted these sunset pics from Sunday night by mistake - just spotted them again in time...

I think people like yourself and me that do still buy a physical cd are slowing reducing in #'s. There is a generation coming through that only know of "why pay when i can get it off the net for free".

The sad thing is, in 5-10 years when there is no such thing as a record store, it will almost drive that final nail in the coffin for CD's. Already, most major artists are doing the whole "digital bundle" release.

Sad...but nothing can stop it now.

Hi Ryan

I think you're right - I had the same discussion with Dr Prog a few weeks back. In 10 years time there will be very few or indeed no CDs. People will pay $10/£10 a month to stream music to their homes, desktops, phones etc...

Hopefully someone somewhere is working on a way whereby the sound quality of these systems can be hugely increased at little or no cost to bandwith...

But let's face it, printing off stuff onyour own printer just doesn't cut it in comparison to actually having a physical artifact which has been produced for you by someoen else...
