Up at 5:15 - Ibuprofen taken - back to bed...

Up at 8:15 - feeling ok...

Breakfast at home, Rory Custard and Meg the Black Cat fed and watered by the Exec Producer then, into the car and a drive to South Queensferry...

A trip today on the "Maid of the Forth" to Inchcolm Island, in the hope of spotting some seals, dolphins and puffins...

We didn't alight at the island...

...and had failed to spot any wildlife other than seagullls and pigeons by the time the boat started its return to port...

Then a seal was spotted (no decent pics) and, later on, as we passed a buoy, another was seen sunbathing...

So, success, kind of...

Back to land under strange skies...

We walked into the village and enjoyed soup and a sandwich at "The Ravenous Beastie"...

Back home and the remainder of the afternoon was spent indoors watching the pelting rain and lightning with thunder crashes overhead...

Not quite as bad as yesterday's storm - a call to my mum revealed her Skybox had been struck by lightning yesterday afternoon and her neighbour's plug sockets were frazzled in the same incident...

Lucky to be alive...

A call from sister Pam - in excellent spirits having enjoyed a belated birthday get together with her chums last night...

This time next week she will be back in Edinburgh...

Spent too much time reading posts to Progressive Rock forums re the furore regarding Yes' Geoff Downes' slagging off of fans who criticised the band's performances on the first few dates of their current tour with Styx...

In the evening watched two episodes of "How to Write a Pop Song" (or something along those lines)...

Was amazed to find that the songs written by Guy Chambers, with Rufus Wainwright and with Mark Ronson, seem to have been done in exactly the same way I write my songs - however, I have not sold 40 million albums in conjunction with Robbie Williams...

"Don't bore us, get to the chorus" and "nothing over three minutes" semed to be mantras...

Those are not things to which I have readily adhered...

That, plus the lack of a multi-million pound spending publicity machine, might explain my lack of commercial success...

Ended the day with "Law & Order" and "Camelot"...

Highlight of the day : Sailing down the river...
