Small is beautiful...

Playlist

Up and, post receiving word from Paul at Fopp that the two proposed performances would go ahead,  ensuring song sheets were in place for today's rehearsal...

Once again, our own Paul, whose birthday it is today, will be absent...

He has not played with us now for almost 3 months...

Since his last gig with us in July 2024, we've rehearsed or gigged 12 times but Paul has only managed along to 3 of these, including missing performances in October and March; and he won't play on 24 May...

So, have we become a quartet?

Hmmm...

After the success of yesterday, this morning we set about playing "understated" versions of the 16 song set mooted for Fopp on 9 August (CBQ will play a soundscape set on 21 June)...

Very enjoyable indeed, Johnny W especially happy with his cut down kit and playing rather "jazzily" with brushes - a whole new sound...

And the left over cake from yesterday post the run through...

Got home early so Anne could have the car to get to her mum's and pickleball - if only we'd played longer, she'd have been on the bus and not bashed the car on a tree in the car park...

Oh well...

Meanwhile, with a bit of judicious editing, from today's recordings, the band had a new LP - out on Bandcamp around 4pm...

First sale at 6:20...

Result...

Beans on toast for tea then out to the bottom of the hill and a bus into town...

Drinks on Lothian Rd then, to the Lyceum - noting a Calum Colvin in the bar...

Tonight's show?  The very funny indeed, "Jack Dee: Small World"...

"CULTURE WARS, THE ENVIRONMENT, BRITISH FOREIGN POLICY and SOCIAL JUSTICE: these are just a few of the topics that Jack spectacularly fails to address (or even mention for that matter) in his brand new show. Instead, for reasons known only to him, he doubles down on his fascination with the meaningless small things of life like Zoom protocol, what’s new in the world of radiators and the worst careers advice office in the world.

Join Jack as he guides you through his varied life and career with his customary charm and well known gift for talking absolute rubbish on any given subject."

Out around 10, and a 15 minute wait for the bus home, soundtracked by the new CMs LP...

Terminus just before 11...

...and "Taskmaster" rounded off the weekend...
