Gig day...
Finally here, after being booked 9 months ago...
First, writing this...
...while listening back to our recording two weeks ago of tonight's three sets...
Being up at 5:30, gave me the requisite 150 minutes to listen pre breakfast...
If we play like that, it'll be great...
Post breakfast, more "work" - contacting organisations which might be interested in the old religious books from mum's house...
Garrowhill School...
...re Dad's Bible...
Williamwood Church...
...re Dad's Psalter and Hymnary...
Loanhead Church...
...re Dad's Hymnary...
...his Good News Bible...
...and Pam's Bible...
...and Pam's other Bible...
...re her Bible knowledge...
I couldn't find St John's in Paisley re this...
...but my "graffiti" made me laugh out loud at my 7 year old self's antics...
Anne was off out to meet with chum Debbie...
I prepped between set medleys of CBQ versions of covers we do but were not playing tonight...
All too soon, it was 4:30 and time to go - arrived at Leith to find streets blocked off by fire engines and had to take a roundabout, convoluted route to get my equipment to the Dockers, for our fifth and final Saturday night since a year ago today...
Around 5, we all arrived and started the build...
Paul arrived around 6, in time for the 25 minute or so soundcheck, which proved satisfactory...
Then, off out for a pizza - except we couldn't get in - same at the Indian and the burger place and we finally plumped for Dukes Bar for a pre gig meal and drink...
Paul and I ended up with the largest plates of chips we'd ever seen (his with various toppings, mine with Mac'n'Cheese) - unfinishable, even with Keith and Johnny W partaking of some...
Back to the venue for 7:45, having thankfully missed the bingo tonight...
The stage was set...
We played three tight, energetic sets to an appreciative crowd and were done and dusted by 11, with take down done by 11:30...
Home just before midnight and watched the highlights of Aberdeen's glorious penalty shoot out Scottish Cup triumph over Celtic...
To bed...
A good day...
