Up just after 7 and keeping this up to date…
Anne up at 8:30…
Out at 9 to Cafe Dunas on our street where “Fernando” served up top coffee and croissants…
A walk downtown past the usual landmarks, to the bridge and over into Gaia…
Up to the ex monastery which overlooks the bridge and affords some top views…
A baby seagull was posing for the tourists…
We decided to walk round the back way to see if any of the port places was worth a visit…
After checking out Taylor’s and World of Wine and Fonseca...
...we decided on Sogevinus, which now owns Kopke, Burmeister, Calem and Barros and enjoyed a couple of glasses of the latter, in the company of some very nice unpictured Manchester lads…
Down to the front, past a large rabbit sculpture and lunch enjoyed at the Mercado Municipal da Beira Rio…
Back over the lower bridge span and took the funicular up to the top...
A walk to a nearby record fair on the top floor of not in full use multi storey car park...
Purchased a jazz CD for 5 Euros...
Coffees enjoyed at the ground floor market…
To the nearby main market, Bolhao, and a wander but no purchases…
A long walk back to our own area...
...and a wee bar we’d wanted to visit, Aduela, was finally open...
Beers enjoyed…
Briefly home...
...and some listening to David Weiss but not the purchased CD…
Back out to our first bar of the trip and a birthday beer…
Followed by a walk around areas not yet explored...
...and then to Swaad for a birthday tea…
Very different from any previous Indian meals and very enjoyable indeed…
Popped in to a craft beer bar and caught the end of guitarist Eurica Costa’s set, hanging around to congratulate him at the end and get some info on his music...
...before heading home...
...for two more “Criminal Intent”…
Another top day...
Highlight of the Day : Birthday Indian…
