A good day started with a good sky...
Birthday of old chum Jorg Sonnenschein...
A few things nabbed for New Music Friday...
Once all that was sorted out, went for a walk down the hill...
...and ended up in the coffee shop with post Zumba Anne, Lynn and Lynn's sister, Sheila...
Good chat, an Americano and some Dutch waffle biscuits...
Post that, rather than walk back up the hill, I just got the bus into town for a wander...
It's five years now since the start of the big boost to Cloudland Blue Quartet's output and indeed popularity/success, which started with lockdown in the Spring of 2020...
Between June 1996 and May 2020 (24 yrs) there were “only” 33 CBQ releases....
In the last 5 yrs, there have been 81, including 60 new LPs!
Thanks to all supporters. Everything remains free to stream/name your price to download (incl £0).
And most DL bundles have masses of extras. Fill your boots!
Anyway, into Fopp for a look around...
Noted again the two good multi disc comps for 1973 and 1974 - I surely though, have very single track?
Instead I ended up buying these...
I'm writing this on Monday morning and the weekend has been so full I've not yet had a chance to sample them...
I also enquired about the possibility of further CBQ soundscapes set in store and, indeed, a set for Capital Models...
Manager Paul was enthusiastic about both and will send me some dates...
I was recording for the paylist above, tracks being sampled as I wandered around...
As ever, a good selection...
Got a tram to the top of Leith Walk and, in Elvis Shakespeare, partook of what might be described as some as a stupid amount of compilations at 50p a pop...
Almost 900 tracks (including a few doublers and most likely absolutely loads I already have elsewhere but hundreds of new to me ones)...
Here, the acquired titles..
A suggestion to Anne but she passed...
Despite the money it's not really very much fun anymore and there is little appreciation from the regulars, whilst our own audience just seem to rub them up the wrong way with their enthusiasm...
Fopp will be much better I'm sure - a smaller crowd and zero payment but hey ho...
I had a wee half and a seat, sorting out the CDs in my bag...
The Samsung continued to soundtrack as I took a tram back across town for a meet with chums Bernie, Gary and Luke at 5:15...
Much imbibing was undertaken...
Luke had to get home but the remaining trio made its way to Rustom fora slap up feed and some nice Red Wine...
Post some popadoms, Lamb Chops and Butterfly King Prawns for starters...
Lamb Karahi for me...
Lamb Punjabi Masala for Gaz...
Peshawari Nan and rice also in attendance...
A Chicken Madras for Bernardo...
The team...
An hour and 40 minutes and then a bus along to the foot of the hill, where Anne very kindly picked me up...
I may have been slightly the worse for wear...
But, you know, it's not every day...
Highlight of the Day : Out for a day and night out...
