Up early on what would have been my dad's 90th birthday...

Happy birthday dad!

He died just 13 years from now on my own personal timeline...

That's less time away than it is back to the start of this blog...

Let's see...

The views first thing...

...including a less than flattering self view...

The moon was up...

...and breakfast was looking good...

The post breakfast view...

Today we were off to Gibraltar...

Half way there, I asked fellow JZM-mobile traveller Gaz if he'd remembered his passport...

He had not, nor did he have his driving licence or his UK currency...

Accordingly, at the border, after having contemplated him hiding in the very small boot or, basically, just driving thru the checkpoint hoping not to be stopped - as the two cars immediately in front of us did - he was removed from the JZM-mobile by border police and had to spend the day quaffing white wine in the sun on the Spanish side of the border...

For the rest of us, a quick lunch and then a boat trip...

But only after I'd managed to park the car - I didn't realise I had been supposed to park in Spain and walk over the border - I ended up stopping in the middle of the airfield just inside Gibraltar and drew the attention of the authorities - luckily I got a way with it...

Finally got a spot and put a couple of quid on my card for parking...

Off we headed towards the Straits of Gibraltar...

...some looking a little the worse for wear after last night...

I liked whatever this was...

Loads of good ship views were afforded us too...

This looks quite close but...

...I'd zoomed in...

Eventually...

...it was indeed quite close...

The sea was pretty choppy...

...as we headed farther and farther out to sea...

We could see Morocco in the distance...

...and Gibraltar the other way...

After 90 minutes, we hit the jackpot as a school of dolphins swam to the boat and then along in front of us...

Superb couple of minutes - well worth the two hour trip...

It only took 30 mins top speed to return to port...

...noting the gun turret defending the rock...

I left the others in a bar and crossed back over the border - which took an age...

...eventually joining Gary at his reclusive hideaway for a Diet Coke...

An hour's drive back and some rest before heading out into the night...

A tasty Italian meal at Pizza Picasso...

This Gary's prawn cocktail...

Bruschetta was also on the table...

No starter for the beast though, "just" this...

A walk home with Gaz and Raymondo...

...once again leaving the others to it...

My PJs for the trip...

A quick decaff coffee...

...some listening and off to bed...

Highlight of the Day : Dolphins...
