The view from the office this morning - a beautiful, sunny day...

Out...

...and through the tunnel...

...to the railway stations...

...breakfast on a takeaway basis from the station cafe and on to the train...

Breakfast scoffed...

...and off...

...but not to Bilbao - the track is narrow gauge and the stops so many that it takes around 3 hours (the bus is 90 mins or so)...

Instead, a 45 min journey for your correspondent and his Exec Producer...

...to Lierganes...

...a lovely small town to the south east of Santander...

A beautiful home made croissant was shared on the discovery that Churros would not be available till the late afternoon...

And then, some more tramping about - as is our wont on holiday...

Roasting...

Note the cannons built into the roof...

Down to the river...

...and then, to the 16th Century Puente Romano...

...where this wee lizard entertained...

A walk back into town for ice-cream...

And then, a walk back out of town...

...to the 16th Century Palacio de La Rañada...

...where a satisfactory self timed shot became a bit of a struggle...

Somehow the camera became programmed for just a 2 second delay...

Finally gave up after this...

...and headed back to town, passing this wee monkey in its garden...

A beer garden beckoned...

Back over the river...

...and to the station...

...four hours of fun having been had...

...and home...

Some solo shopping in the late afternoon/early evening, led me back to the only record shop in Santander...

...from where some, ahem, "bargains" were partaken of...

Back home...

Anne's attempted purchasing of things she likes had been less successful...

Once again, drinks beckoned...

...and tasty pizzas comprised our final dinner...

A last wee walk about...

...past the market to the apartment...

...and almost all over...

Highlight of the Day : Lierganes...
