In the early evening, your correspondent looked stupid in a hat...

Shortly thereafter, a call from my mum's neighbour - she'd been alerted to yet another alarm call and gone in to find mum in her seat but shaking uncontrollably and unable to speak...

We jumped in the car and were there within half an hour...

Ambulance called...

To the untrained eye, this was a stroke removing the ability to speak...

On arrival of the ambulance, some semblance of speech had mysteriously returned...

Tests, bloods, blood pressure etc etc at the house then into the ambulance and off to A&E...

Sister Sheila followed on...

I emerged around midnight...

...mum a bit better but still a mystery...

 I was buoyed by no mention of a stroke but rather infection...

The lesser of two evils...

Anne picked me up and, back home, we cheered ourselves up with "Brooklyn Nine Nine" before hitting the sack...
