Up reasonably late today and looking for works by Rusconi, one of the composers from last night -managed to download around 2 hours of weird classical music...

Out to my mum's for lunch - she was looking remarkably ok, all things considered...

Some shopping was undertaken for her...

Back home, much time was spent ripping old Wire Tapper compilations of strange and wonderful - and not so wonderful - music into the iTunes...

...and this was added to the collection randomly - it's pretty dreadful truth be told...

"Line of Duty" continued and was as excellent as usual...

Late on some dreadful news, Allan Holdsworth dead, unexpectedly, at age 70...

I've been a fan since 1978 and his work with UK - of whom, of course, John Wetton died at the end of January...

You may not have heard of Allan Holdsworth but he was one of the world's greatest guitarists and hugely influential - testament to which were the outpourings of grief from world renowned guitarists at his passing...

I have a just a few of his works...

...along with many of his collaborative discs with Soft Machine, Bruford, UK, Tony Williams, Ian Carr, Planet X - the list goes on...

I saw him play live three times and even met him once, in a fanboy stylee...

That was a good day, this was a sad day...

His solo albums have just been remastered and released in a box set entitled "The Man Who Changed Guitar Forever" - which kind of says it all really...

Lowoght of the Day : The death of Allan Holdsworth...
