Cloudland Blue Quartet - Riverleaves
Up at seven and, a couple of hours later, with Anne still snoozing, it was off into town for the annual "Jesus-Christ-it's-nearly-Xmas-and-I've-hardly-bought-any-presents-for-anyone-Saturday" or whatever the media are calling it this year...
So, while this doesn't look that bad...
...let me tell you, the fact that it stopped me getting the Cloudland Blue Mobile out of the garage for around 15 minutes did not get my shopping spree off to a good start...
The owner was eventually located and, for my sins, given rather a stern talking to with regard to considerate parking...
Evidently the "builder" working on a nearby house - but outside of which, for some reason, he had chosen not to park - didn't realise that, even in 2014, there are still some people who use their garage to actually park their car, rather than as a storage area for unadulterated crap...
Crispycat Towers has an attic for that...
Anyway, not really feeling the old Xmas spirit after the contretemps, into town and parked...
Considerately...
A bright cold morning and the streets, thus far, fairly empty...
Items acquired for various people of importance to me...
A walk to the East End....
...further items procured - including, it must be said, a wee something for myself in the shape of the latest Morrissey album...
Back to the car - further items acquired on the way...
Home for breakfast/brunch around midday, with this wee monkey enjoying the front garden bird and squirrel related Xmas Fayre...
In the afternoon, at Tynecastle, Anne and her mum, watched Hearts continue on their bulldozering of the Scottish Championship with a simple 2-0 home win against Count Brodski's Alloa Athletic...
Meanwhile, in Dumfries, after the glorious 2-0 win there against The Rangers last Friday, Queens once again lost 2-1 to their bogie team (other than Hearts that is) the Blue Brazil of Cowdenbeath...
Very disappointing indeed and, to make matters worse, both Hibernian and Falkirk won - Hibs pushing Queens down to fourth on goal difference and Falkirk sitting now just two points behind the Mighty Doonhamers...
Also this afternoon, work on the upcoming release of the new CBQ album...
...and a welcome visit from drummer Keith for a chat and a catch up on things music, dance and Xmas...
In the evening, a tasty sausage casserole was very much enjoyed as we watched the final of "Strictly Come Dancing" - I have not watched the majority of this three and a bit month long dance fest but have enjoyed the last couple of weeks...
Caroline Flack was a worthy winner and the best dancer in the final - although Pixie Lott's exit a couple of weeks ago was a surprise...
The two parts sandwiched the last of the the current series of "Atlantis"...
Anyway...
Late on, a night of tributes on BBC2 to Rik Mayall was also enjoyed - sad that Ade Edmondson could not take part, having not yet come to terms with his loss...
From a re-evaluation point of view, for all the praise heaped upon the admittedly at the time groundbreaking (although owing a big debt to "The Goodies") "The Young Ones", which, at the time was Mr CBQ's fave programme by a long chalk, it has not stood the test of time well...
"Bottom" is far superior...
And, in the end, oh well - it comes to us all...
Lights out...
Highlight of the Day : Xmas shopping almost done / A tasty sausage casserole...
