Return of the shadow...

Playlist
Schubert Ensemble of London - Faure & Franck Piano Quartets and Quintets
Katia & Marielle Labeque - Encore!
Gidon Kremer/Martha Argerich - Violin Sonatas: Bartok, Janacek, Messiaen
Alice Cooper - Trash

Up at 5 and the first two hours of the day were spent recording this week's Weekly Playlist...

Post that, got my first acoustic guitar out of the attic...

To be honest, I don't really sound any better on it - but it's slightly easier to play than the Cloudland Blue Guitar...

We drove to Roseburn and walked to Stockbridge - I was trying to take pics of things I've not recorded before...

For the first time, I noticed this in the trees, pointing at nothing in particular...

...and this little plaque built into the wall by the waterside...

Study re Moss and Exec Producer...

We came up at Belford and walked through the New Town...

...and back down to Stockbridge by my weekday route...

...to Patisserie Florentin...

...for breakfast of coffee and croissants...

Then, to the market, where tasty (unpictured) sausages were purchased for tea...

Then, a look round the shops - Anne likes this one...

...while I, in two charity shops, partook of a total of three classical CDs for just six of your English pounds...

Good to see this old hotel's makeover has finally been concluded...

We took an alternative route back to the car - through Learmonth...

...and its leafy gardens...

..and views down to Fettes College...

I noted this with a view to a possible future live outing - unfortunately discovering back home that the website is down...

Onward, past the school where I used to play 5-a-side football - the scene of the great ankle break of 2005...

Impressive...

..and this small church, where one of Anne's old friends tied the knot many years ago...

Into the grounds of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art...

...noting once again that "Everything is going to be aright"...

Through the car park...

...past some open air works...

...and down the hill to the water once more...

..noting again the not really looking at anything CCTV camera...

Over the bridge where the cover of "Riverleaves" was shot - now the scene of just one more selfie...

...and back to the car...

Early afternoon, out to Loanhead for coffee and chat with mum and sister Sheila...

Their conversation re carriage clocks was, frankly, riveting...

Back home and what's this?

It's...

...Meg the Black Cat of course - with the sun shining through her wee ears...

On telly, we watched the end of the Ramsdens Cup Final between Raith Rovers (4th bottom of the second tier of Scottish Football) and The Rangers (unbeaten champions of the third tier)...

While the plucky underdogs from Glasgow did well to take the Kirkcaldy titans to extra time, Raith scored the only goal of the game with just over three minutes to go...

The man in yellow is Raith goalie Lee Robinson (formerly of Queen of the South)...

The man in blue is The Rangers striker Nicky Clark (formerly of Queen of the South)...

Here they are on the same Sunday last year celebrating having won the cup with Queens who, like The Rangers, were champions of the third tier while their opponents on that day, Partick Thistle (who Hearts played yesterday in the top tier) were then champions of the second...

The Rangers wage bill is second only in Scottish football to that of Glasgow Celtic...

I would not be surprised if just one of their "top" players earns more than the entire Raith team (despite Raith being the 19th top team at present and The Rangers the 23rd)...

That kind of puts the result into perspective...

The (new) Rangers have pissed away the money they raised since forming at the start of season 2012/13 just as the old Glasgow Rangers did...

So, well done - there'll be dancing in the streets of Raith tonight...

Meanwhile, tasty sausages were enjoyed...

Cabbage and mash soon joined the fray...

Late on, Meg the Black Cat, who, it must be admitted, is perhaps starting to show the signs of the onset of cat senility, disappeared - only to be found a couple of hours later in the arms of one of our neighbours asking, as I trawled the streets shouting "Meg, Meg", "is this your cat?"

Meg had been sleeping on their sofa with one of the children, who had left chocolate all over Meg's head and had rechristened "him" Shadow...

Poor wee Shadow...

Hmmm...

Late on, some work on best keys in which to sing various songs and reworking out chord sequences...

I have not mentioned that, throughout the day, Facebook was the cause of much head scratching, bewilderment and annoyance...

Not to worry...

The goals from yesterday's Hearts game and off to bed...

Highlight of the day :  A good long walk...
