Up early and, as usual, with Meg the Black Cat at the laptop, working away...
She came with me to the back door as I left the house for the day and had a wee look out but did not venture forth...
A beautiful morning...
At lunchtime, to Record Shak in Newington and finally fully utilised my credit note, taking on board three ECM titles, one each by John Abercrombie, John Surman and David Torn...
A call to Anne to see how Meg was doing - new medication procured from the vet and given to the wee ill beastie...
She spent most of the day either on Anne's knee, upstairs on the landing or on the worktop by the sink - worryingly, not eating anything...
She was starting to fade away...
Anne took our minds off matters by cooking a curry - here with Meg's help of course - the tastiest curry made thus far...
In the living room I noted new flowers below a portrait of our first cat, Crispy the Kitten, who passed away in 2002, aged 18...
Meg spent the evening in various spots around the house as if she was trying to find a place...
This, our last photo of the Pie...
Around 11, she was clearly nearing the end of her long life and we took her into the back room, where we'd spent many hours together, listening to music and reading...
She was in my arms resting with Anne at our side and gradually, she just slipped away - we didn't really notice she'd stopped breathing...
An extremely upsetting time for Anne and I but, in the end, Meg had chosen her own time to go...
Here she is just four days ago...
She brought nothing but love and enjoyment into our house and it seems empty without her...
Lowlight of the Day : The passing of Meg the Black Cat...
