No way I'm running a marathon for charity...

I'm not running a marathon but I have just released my latest album in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support via the dedicated Just Giving page here - https://www.justgiving.com/cbq-starlightnight...

It's going quite well so far - just under £600 raised and over 120 CDs issued to supporters of the cause...

No money comes to me for the album, I cover all production, postage and packaging costs myself...

That - and spending nearly two years writing and recording the CD - is my contribution – it’s a little bit like running a marathon...

If you're not sure about donating, you can stream the album first here - https://cbq-starlightnight.blogspot.com

Beware that it starts very quietly...

So why am I doing this?

My sister Pam was diagnosed with a brain tumour in November 2010 and went through some terrible times over the next year...

But strong support was provided by her family and friends and also by Macmillan Cancer Support...

And we had some good times too during that dreadful period and it’s those that we'll cherish...

Almost exactly a year after her diagnosis, Pam died on 9 December 2011, when I was halfway through the writing and recording of this album. She never heard any of it...

She probably wouldn't have been too impressed...

When I played her my previous album, "Splinterheart" (as usual without telling her what it was), the conversation went something like this:

Pam : “Is that your new album?”;  Me, proudly : “Yes”
Pam : “Can you put something a bit more uplifting on please?”

Others have been though...

"new album sounding great as ever!"
"I'm listening to the download now. Initial impressions - excellent!"
"Several songs that could have been the centrepiece of one album"
"The lovely atmospherics took me back to albums I'd loved years ago - somewhere around Eno/Cluster/Low/Heroes"
"Knowing the story behind the album, the textures were very evocative of sadness, affection, resignation and at times affirmation"
"it's the atmosphere, the fading in and out found sounds, the lush synths"

So what do I do for your donation?

OK, well absolutely NO running but you'll get a different hand-made package of the album depending on what you donate..

Remember, this is completely self funded so the more you donate the more I give too...
