The day started well – up at 7:30 and the usual tidying, doing the dishes, e-mailing etc etc…

A call from Pam around 9:30 confirmed yesterday’s suggestion that she'd be discharged today…

Then the waiting started – soundtracked, eventually annoyingly, by yesterday’s 4CD Trance Nation package…

At 2:30, when Pam called again, we agreed I would just drive to London in the hope that she would be ready when I got there…

The traffic was a nightmare and, following an aborted attempt at parking at the hospital itself, I retreated to the side street where I’d parked on Sunday and loaded the ticket machine with enough cash to see me through till 6pm…

I arrived at 4pm to find Pam ready and waiting in the corridor outside the ward…

I had some paperwork to be completed before leaving so it was 4:15 when we stepped out into a bleak rainy night…

Ten minutes later we were back at the car and, once again, a journey which I’ve done recently in just over half an hour, took three times as long…

We eventually arrived home just after 6pm, having driven through snow on the M1…

Once in the house we were able to examine fully Pam’s head wound…

She made the executive decision to have me shave off the remainder of her hair…

Visits then from chums Lesley and, briefly,Michelle, to deliver a blow up mattress from her sister, Suzanne…

Meanwhile, we’d also had a new banister delivered by Suzanne’s husband Chris (keep up now) and he’ll return tomorrow afternoon to fit it…

Lesley very kindly offered to sit with Pam while I went to the airport to pick up mum and sister Sheila – they were expected to have landed at 9:00 pm but, due to weather, were set to land at Luton around 10:30…

But the weather had not only delayed them – it had, rather annoyingly, sent them to Stanstead…

I drove back to the house – Easyjet decided to refuel and fly them to Luton – whose runways were now being de-iced…

So, back to the airport at midnight to finally pick them up…

I seem to have spent much of today driving up and down the M1…

Around 12:45, Lesley was able to leave at last when Pam’s family was finally reunited…

At two my mum and sisters called it a day at last and left me to sleep on the couch (since we don't have a pump for Suzanne's mattress)…

Not to worry...

Highlight of the Day : Pam home…

Hey David, Pam's plight has turned your blog from drivel into a gripping serial. She is one amazing lady and I salute her. Go Pam!
