Up late for a Sunday - eight o'clock - and to the back room where I leafed through three books I have, published in the late 1960s, on Dada/Futurism, Cubism and Abstract Expressionism respectively...

Meg the Black Cat kept me company...

To the gym...

Home for breakfast then to the dump with the old mirror and blind. Both went to landfill as they were deemed unrecyclable - if my luck changes for the worse from today for the next seven years, you'll know why...

Then, a 100 minute drive to Dumfries...

...and Queen of the South's erstwhile Captain, Big Jim Thomson's Testimonial Match against Glasgow Rangers was taking place...

A good game, with Rangers fielding their first team from the start and Big Jim (aka The Silhouette) coming on for the last quarter of an hour...

For the third time in recent memory, the Gers ran out winners against Queens by the odd goal, winning 1-0 today...

Despite it being a friendly, Queen's goalie had to be substituted due to injury and, as they only had one on duty (due to other injuries), Rangers' second goalkeeper joined the Doonhamers for the second half...

Queens' performance bode well for the upcoming season...

On the journey home, we stopped off at the award winning Taj Mahal Indian restaurant in Biggar...

...and enjoyed their delicious fayre, including complimentary poppadoms to start and fresh mango slices to end our meal...

Mmmm, mmm...

Back home and some computing (soundtracked by the mighty Kansas), followed by spiffing WWII spy drama, "Enigma", ended the weekend...

Highlight of the day : Back at Palmerston...
