Hanged perhaps, hopefully not...

As usual on this trip, up around 5:30/6:00 but, today, instead of heading to the kitchen to write up the diary and read the Blue Note Biography, it's to the TV to watch the election results on BBC World...

It's clear immediately it's a hung parliament...

Truth be told, for being on holiday, we watched far too much TV today...

Anyway, wrote this up then walked round to the bakers to bring back lovely bread and tasty cakes...

Post breakfast, we took a trip to the local (very smokey) internet cafe to check on the ash situation...

Edinburgh seems clear, so that's a worry off our minds...

Walked on to the old town under clear blue skies...

Caught a cat on a roof, emerging from a broken window at one end and disappearing through a hole in the tiles at the other, after shimmying along the guttering eight stories up...

Cats are great...

Went round a few streets not already seen and ended up at St Martin's Church..

Inside, there was an uncovered 11th Century cemetry, the usual Catholic opulence in the face of poverty, some wonderful carvings, evidence of a ghost with a burning hand who demanded 200 gold pieces from its victims (??) and a creepy crypt...

To the Antik Cafe for a hot chocolate/coffee - today was the schoolkids of the city's last day - class after class wandered by with placards showing photos of their members and making as much noise as possible - later these placards were displayed prominently in shop windows...

Walked back through the town to the "Blue" Church which is almost completely blue, both outside and in...

Home for lunch and more election telly...

The media in a vacuum are hilarious - journalists interviewing journalists - why can't they just wait to see what happens and then report on that?

Decided to take a bus trip to nearby Devin Castle but, on eventually finding the correct departure point, we faced a wait of until around 5pm for the bus and then a longer than expected journey there and back, so we cancelled and, instead, headed back to the Antik for a couple of beers, sitting at the same table as this morning to watch the world go by under still blue skies...

After an hour or so, we headed home for yet more TV before coming back out for our final dinner in Bratislava...

After much wandering and pondering, we ended up at "Perugia", an excellent Italian place packed with Germans and enjoyed an tasty pizza each, accompanied by yet more beer (wine for the Exec Producer)...

Then, a last wee constitutional home, taking some night pics of this beautiful city...

Back at the apartment, we consigned politics to the bin and enjoyed some Ice Hockey, with Germany defeating the USA 2-1 in overtime...

A good day...

Highlight of the day : Labour hopefully out of power at last...
