Pressing the burg...

Playlist
Horace Silver – Finger Poppin’
Horace Parlan – Up and Down
Donald Byrd – Ethiopian Knights

Up at the usual time but packing today for the trip to Bratislava and Vienna...

Taxi to the airport, easy check in and breakfasting by nine – tasty muesli for me...

Enjoyed the new look of the airport too, although the stupid belt removal scenario annoyed...

Off on time for an uneventful 140 minute flight, soundtracked by yesterday’s jazz purchases...

Collected at the airport and driven to our apartment. A quick unpack and change then out into the 29 degree sun to nearby Tesco, or “My Bratislava” as it’s known here, for initial provisions...

News from home and Anne was delighted to hear Hearts had beaten Hibs 2-1 at Easter Road in the last derby of the season. Meanwhile Queens were pipped by Dr Prog’s Dunfermline for third place and had to be content with fourth for the third time in the last seven years...

Dropped the shopping off and walked into the old town familiarising ourselves...

A tasty lunch from a Schwarma shop and wondered how children can understand Slovakian...

Down to the main street and enjoyed performances on several stages for the 1st of May celebrations...

More exploring, followed by a welcome beer at “Prima” under St Michael’s Gate, at which point the rain started and we got soaked walking back home...

After a rest, back out again and to the nearby Slovak Pub for more beer and some eats – Vienna Schnitzel for Anne and tasty Gulasch Soup for me...

A constitutional back in to the old town and a seat in the main square rounded off the first day...

Highlight of the day : Being on holiday....
