National violet...

Playlist
Cloudland Blue Quartet - Blacklandsky (Working Title)
The National - High Violet

Listening mainly to the eight tracks which, currently, comprise the work in progress for the next CBQ LP - and thought of a working title...

Still quite a bit of work to be done - probably adding some synths and possibly more guitars - plus two lyrics remain unwritten - these will be added to the two "weirder" tracks...

Decided to leave "The Killers at the Counter" as is, warts'n'all...

To FOPP at lunchtime, acquiring my seventh and eighth CDs of the week, Rob Ellis' "Music for the Home Vol 2" - he is P J Harvey's pianist and this is a set of piano and electronic pieces - and The Nice's "Elegy" - released post their 1970 break up and a kind of template for the then just starting out Emerson, Lake & Palmer...

Home under lovely blue skies...

...to find a birthday package from Macclesfield Craig - the new album by his faves The National - it is truly a thing of beauty...

As I was listening to it late doors (post two episodes of "Ashes to Ashes" and this week's "Have I Got News For You" which ripped the piss rotten out of our ex-Great Leader), the band appeared on Jools Holland's "Later", along with LCD Soundsystem, Tracey Thorn and Crowded House - if only that show could be broadcast without Jools Holland...

So that's (so far) Jools Holland and Kirsty Wark on my list for sackings by the BBC...

And maybe they could cancel the embarassment that is "Newsnight Scotland" too...

As I watched the telly, Craig and I swapped texts on the merits or otherwise of the performances - the least said about "Kelis" and the non descript bluesy guy who played, the better - but the four named above were excellent...

To bed at one...

Highlight of the Day : Chum communication...
