Keepsake played live...

Playlist

Up for a superb breakfast...

So superb, I forgot to picture the "mains" of creamed mushrooms and, for Anne, a poached egg breakfast with bacon...

Prior to that though, on awakening, I'd realised I'd left my mouse back in the house...

Post breakfast, a quick trip to Argos and panic over...

Back to the house, mouse dropped off and out we went...

Over the road to Pannett Park, with its collection of fossils in the pavement...

...and friendly squirrels...

...and life sized crocodile....

I get the feeling, this might be the cover for "Disquietmusik IX" which I will record in early December, due out on the 5th of that month...

Yep...

Past the apple trees...

...and the Floral Clock...

...and the path with the history of Whitby inlaid...

...to the top of the hill...

...and the Art Gallery...

...where this exhibition impressed and was much enjoyed...

Around an hour later, back out and down the other side of the hill...

...to the lily pond...

Into town and free drinks received from local bakery chain, Cooplands...

...before climbing up the hill on the other side of the river, to the Church of St Mary the Virgin...

...with views over the churchyard...

Then, over to the Cholmley Mansion house...

...and the Abbey...

...and, then, the Whitby Brewery...

...before heading back down the hill...

...and enjoying ice cream for lunch...

Back over the river...

...and up the hill on the other side to the Whalebone monument...

...and the James Cook monument...

...and good views of where we'd just been...

Down in the town, another animal welfare shop purchase for just 50 of your English New Pence...

...bringing the haul thus far, to these, for #CDFriday...

To the Angel Hotel for some drinks and an early tea...

...as I was to be at the Flowergate by 6pm...

As ever, there were the inevitable hold up s and lack of organisation as at any gig I've ever done...

...but I was soon set up and soundchecked...

...and my "Merch" was ready to go...

At 8, Subphotic took to the stage for a largely improvised set of two long pieces, mostly via voice, Moog synth and looping, the second also including input for a six strong ladies choir...

A ten minute break...

...and then, time for the debut performance of this...

...which went swimmingly, once I'd worked out that the sound engineer had not panned my left and right signals and so elements set to the far wide of the spectrum needed to be played at an increased volume that is...

And only one miscue of the 70 required - which was sorted without any huge upset to proceedings...

One audience member came up at the end and said it was “best thing I’ve ever heard at this club”. Another said “so moving, especially that end piece”.  One lady from the choir was almost in tears at the end - really loved it.  So, all in all, a success I’d say!  There was even a guy in the audience who used to live in Penicuik and was astounded by mention of his little home town in the piece, until I explained the circumstances...

Closing the night, a top set of Krautrock/Electronica from Lines of Silence, who didn't even bother about a soundcheck - just set their myriad stuff up after my set and played, albeit with one fasle start at the opening of their set...

I have their latest album and, in fact featured it in my podcast a couple of weeks back...

Excellent stuff to end an excellent day...
