Started the day in the the middle of the night with BS&T on the cans - a continuation of my recent quasi-obsession with the band Chicago...
Out under good skies...
At lunchtime, a walk along to Fopp and these were purchased for just 12 of your English pounds all told...
Santana's Caravanserai, arguably at their peak in 1972 - uplifting...
A German Steve Miller Band Compilation of their work from 1976-84 (so the Joker is a re-record)...
Every household had some Steve Miller in its collection in the early eighties...
My 1st ever Stiff Little Fingers recordings, other than on punk rock compilations...
Got a su-su-su-su-suspect device etc...
The Best of Booker T & The MGs - Soul classics form 1967-71, hence no Green Onions, which was a hit in 1962...
And, finally, The Chic Organisation's 2CD compilation "Up All Night"...
The first time on CD at the original vinyl speeds for many of these top tracks...
Previous CD issues included the tracks at the speed at which they were recorded...
On vinyl, back in the day, when Mr Quartet frequented the discos of Munich, Chic speeded the masters up to make them more exciting...
Anne was off out on the ran dan with chums Lesley and Gillian, leaving me to my own devices...
I took the opportunity to rip and listen to the above...
...and to watch my third James Bond movie of the week, "Skyfall"...
Much enjoyed...
It was announced too today, that Edgar Froese of Tangerine Dream died on Tuesday afternoon - coincidentally around the time I was listening to their album "Encore"...
These two box sets of TD's Virgin era albums have just left the living room shelf...
Even though I had all the LPs individually, I had to have these too because I love Tangerine Dream - this is how I waste my money...
Meanwhile, Phaedra is my all time favourite TD album - you can't beat "Mysterious Semblance at the Strand of Nightmares"...
I first bought it on vinyl 40 years ago...
And I met Edgar Froese in 2008...
But we are all rushing headlong into the cosmos...
A call at midnight or so to go and pick up the ladies, the request duly fulfilled...
A nightcap at Gillian and Lindsey's place, where Lesley was overnighting and some excellent chat was undertaken, along with a look around of and a comfy sit in a very impressive indeed extension, which is now their main living area...
Sack finally hit around three...
Highlight of the Day : Catching up with Gillian and Lindsey...
