Not the best day ever...

A call mid afternoon from Sister Sheila to say my mum had been found a sleep in her chair and was unable to be wakened - still breathing however...

A race to the house - ambulance already there - mum awake but disorientated and slurring...

Thankfully no stroke diagnosis...

Off to A&E and some queue jumping ensued due to the seriousnerss of matters...

She had gone from this a couple of weeks ago...

...to this...

The pic belies the position...

Anne and I left the hospital around 7:45 having been advised chest infection and antibiotics prescribed...

Sister Sheila left a couple of hours later having been advised chest infection and kidney infection...

At 11:30 I was called back in to the hospital, arriving just after midnight to be told pneumonia, kidney dysfunction, blood poisoning, extremely low blood pressure lack of oxygen and now on a drip, hourly antibiotics, oxygen and touch and go if she'd make it through the night...

Ironically, she was in the very same bay sister Pam was taken to when admitted a few weeks before she succumbed to her brain tumour...

I stayed till around 1:30 am but was advised nothing I could do and they'd call if there were any serious developments..

Home and to bed around 2 am...

Thankfully, no call came...

I am writing this tomorrow and the situation has improved somewhat but still extremely serious...

Lowlight of the Day : Very, very ill old mum...
