One opinion matters more than any other, if we're honest...

Playlist
Various Composers - Music of the 20th Century "Avantgarde"
Cloudland Blue Quartet - Riverleaves
Alban Berg Quartett - Hommage Box Set
Maxwell Davies - Naxos String Quartets

Up early and working yet again, uploading the soundscapes albums to the cloud in preparation for providing streaming players here...

A walk to McAllister Mathieson today but nothing enticed - the classical discs I'm getting second hand from the Amazon market place are too cheap to beat...

Some pics on the way...

Early evening, to Stockbridge for a meet with Jamie to chase up our visit of two weeks ago re possible dates for our Capital Models Covers Trio...

Sadly, none of the people we needed to see were around so, a wasted journey...

We had a good chat in Jamie's car as we waited to pick up his son, Conrad from football practice...

People have access now to so much music it's impossible to gain any traction unless you have a novelty tune like "Gangham Style", which was actually more about the video of course - and who's waiting on Psy's next record?  Yep, no-one...

Or you're already an established star - like David Bowie - but even then once the initial push is over there's nothing...

People move on so quickly now...

His new album will arrive here shortly - I think it will gain traction with me...

Because, for me, he is worth the listening time...

Close listening on headphones, one to one, is the way to listen to the few real artists left in the world - not a live concert, man, where idiots chatter, drink and watch it through their mobile phones...

It's still all about recorded music...

Glenn Gould was right...

Anyway, back home, and a call from old chum Peri Urban, catching up on stuff, not having talked for quite a while now - three and a half years ago we played an acoustic version of my album "Soundingfall" live together...

Now Mr Urban is up for some more playing - this time it'll be his tunes and I'll play bass - he's sending me the tracks and sheet music to learn...

So the projects are mounting up...

In the post, four of the five expected discs of Peter Maxwell Davies' Naxos commissioned string quartets arrived - I now have three to ten and await one and two...

The BBC4 series "The Sound and the Fury" turned me on to him last week re his work in the sixties...

I've always ignored Maxwell Davies but I was missing out big style it seems if these discs are anything to go by - brilliant tuneless avant garde writing - much recommended...

And so, since Saturday, these have joined the collection...

The yellow mag beneath the CDs is the programme for this year's Edinburgh International Festival - I suspect the Exec Producer and I will be taking in a few choice items in the late summer...

Lights out...

Highlight of the Day : Another project in the diary and a new unexpected discovery...
