Up early, although there was a cloud thrown over proceedings first thing as my mum managed somehow to fall out of her bed...

She carried on like a trouper though and the car was loaded up with everything we might need (including a spade) by 8 am...

And off we went...

It took nearly 30 minutes to travel the two miles or so to the M1 - then, beyond Luton, there was muchas congestionatas...

At 9:15 we had the first stop of the day - Newport Pagnall Services serviced us nicely with a bathroom stop, some coffee and some chocolate...

Then we were on our way again...

Along the M6, fatigue kicked in for the passengers, while your correspondent managed speeds of between 90 and 100 mph on virtually clear roads...

Another three hours on the road and we were well past Manchester and into the peak district...

We stopped off at the very welcoming and family owned Westmoreland Farm Shop Services for some lunch and a rest from the all day travel arrangements...

These ducks reckoned I had some food when all I had was my camera...

Bringing the total stoppage time up to two hours, we left the rest stop at 2:15 and headed up the M6/M74 towards Glasgow, having made the concious decision only to travel by motorway...

The sun went down around around 3:30...

By four we were heading east on the final leg of the journey from Glasgow to Edinburgh...

...arriving at the bottom of Crispycat Hill around 4:30, where I bade farewell to my family...

...and met up with Annie as she alighted from a bus which was bringing her back from a well earned lunch and afternoon shopping spree with bestest chum Lynn...

We walked up the hill together...

..and home to some Tivo'd "Big Bang Theory" and "Law & Order : Criminal Intent"...

I was extremely pleased to be back home to Annie and, of course, my little feline friend, Meg the Black Cat...

She showed her delight in having me home by promptly scratching my hand...

True love...

Highlight of the Day : Home after 15 days away...

Glad you all got home safely. Wondered how the roads would be.
Won't be long 'til you're all off again. Look forward to more exciting blogs. Moira

Glad you're home...and you can take photos whilst driving at 90mph? I can't chew gum driving at 70.

When my family were awake, i think they found it disconcerting that their driver was taking pics out the windows of the car whilst careering along at 100 mph...

I was just pointing the camera though, not looking through it...

if that helps...
