I was up early, but not this early...

...as the old laptop is still on UK time...

It was around this time...

Before the Exec Producer awoke, I was off out on an errand...

...getting used to our environs...

At the nearby Carrefour, provisions were secured and, back home, breakfast was enjoyed...

Outside, the sun was coming out...

...and off out into it we went, although it was rather chilly...

Our residence...

...and its quaintly translated rules...

Off down Santiago street...

...we were, as ever when on holiday, a-wandering...

...and, gradually...

...made our way down to the Cathedral...

...which stands...

...on an impressive square...

...with possibly one of the best Popes - if there can be such a thing as a "best" Pope...

OK, let's say "best-loved Popes"...

Having eschewed the online booking system which allows entry at a specific time, costs a Euro per person less but then charges you a Euro for booking online, we walked round to the other side, taking in the views...

...and queued to just pay and go in...

Artworks of the Sevillian Baroque greeted us...

...and then, into the Cathedral proper...

...with the usual over the top nonsense, as we wondered about how it is that religious people can square this quite obvious hoarding of riches with the teachings of Jesus...

Not sure whose remains are under here...

..but this is definitely the tomb of Christopher Columbus (the explorer, not the ludicrously similarly named American film director)...

Context...

Onwards around the magnificence...

Yep. What would Jesus say if he came back today and saw all of this in his name?

In one room, people (including us) queued to see the ceiling reflected in a magnifying mirror...

Your correspondent and his Exec Producer in tourist mode...

Sadly I did not get a pic of the small teenage girl who aped this pose for her friends' Insta pages in front of the statue - it was, however, entertaining...

Various Christs in boxes...

Looking up in another room...

This, this was impressive...

Do you see what I did here?

More ceiling views...

More riches...

Then, we walked up the tower - not steps but a 700 or so step walkway...

Apparently, soldiers used to walk their horses up the tower - to which end I know not...

The views from up there were top notch - I'm sure the horses loved them too...

Back down again and out, into the Orange Courtyard...

OK that's enough oranges...

Time for lunch...

Then, a wander, ending up at a disappointingly not full of CDs, El Corte Ingles...

...and, opposite it, Aldi...

...where coffee for the apartment was procured...

We happened once again upon The Mushroom Thing...

...which was impressive even if were left wondering what in Heaven's name it was for...

More tramping around, we found this too by chance...

Rather more run down than The Mushroom Thing...

Back down near the Cathedral, we had a sit down and a coffee/chocolate...

...before making a reasonably quick visit to another outlandish church (San Salvador), which was included in our entry to the Cathedral...

While the EP was going round taking photos, I took the opportunity to have a seat, then, promptly nodded off, leading Anne to believe I may well have shuffled off this mortal coil...

But I was fine and awake again to take these...

Jesus looks a bit peeved in this one...

Back out and a walk back past the Cathedral...

...for a pre-arranged visit to the Real Alcazar...

...which was most impressive indeed...

The moon was out...

Yet more splendour inside...

...and out...

I tried to imagine what it would have been like when, despite its huge size, only a few very rich people lived here and would wander around in, presumably, mostly silence, as opposed to the racket of the touristic hordes......

The gardens were splendid...

Probably my favourite view...

Further views were afforded from the palace walls...

Back inside...

Back outside...

...and more views from above...

Staircase...

Nearly done...

Lemon trees...

...and back around the gardens again...

...where we chanced upon a veritable "Pile of Peacocks"...

...which very much impressed the EP...

As closing time approached, one last wander...

..including what may, at one time, have been, the toilets...

On our way out...

...a visit to the shop, resulted in this purchase - seen here with the cathedral tower reflected upon it...

Out...

...and home for a well earned rest...

...and, while Anne sat outside, I struggled to get the new CD's content into my phone for a listen...

Eventually it worked...

This evening, wrapped up and out...

...firstly to a wee nearby bar, where drinks and tapas were enjoyed...

...including the best guacamole in the world...

...then, on down to Alfalfa Square and La Bodega for more drinks and more tapas...

We sent a picture of these legs to niece Kitty as, apparently, such things are her favourite...

Back home again...

Sore feet...

Great day...

Bed...
