Up super early...
I did not know at the time but part of this will be the cover of my next LP...
Morning Saturday morning....
Cup final day here in Scotchland so, I was taking the Exec Producer and brother in law Bob to that Glasgow re the Jam Tarts hoping to stop Scotland’s newest club from winning the trophy for the first time ever in their 10 year history....
But, first, there was work to be done…
...re finishing off the podcast, editing out the massive number of lack of concentration botch ups and uploading of said thing into the void...
Out now! Eclectic Selection 2022 Vol 20. The 7 latest LPs of the day, 9 other new releases, the top 4 of Eurovision 2022, rock, prog, pop, covers, singer/songwriter, funk, reggae, ambient, electronic, leftfield, experimental, jazz, classical! Listen
35th of the 432 sections of the CD collection was randomly chosen as No 7...
...a box of CD-Rs from Gentle Giant to The Kinks, including many old home made compilations...
116 albums (136 discs) in a 25 CD box…
I chose a 2CD mono Francoise Hardy set, ripped from vinyl, of all the tracks at the time I didn’t have on CD...
A Hawkwind Charisma compilation based on one released officially back in 1988...
And thirdly, a CD based on a late 80’s cassette (but including extra tracks from beyond that point) of what I called “The Acceptable Face of King Crimson”, which often soundtracked my East-West car commute to HarperCollins at Bishopbriggs, with chum Isobel, at the time…
Ah the old days...
Track lists for those interested...
I had to rip the Hawkwind as, like many of the things in the CD-R boxes, it's not on any hard drive...
Look away now re my injured toe, which, rather than improving, seemed to be getting worse...
A nice omelette and beans based breakfast...
...while Luna, as ever, relaxed...
Still trying to work out when we might rehearse...
At nine, to Jane and Bob's to pick up the latter for our trip to Glasgow. We arrived around an hour later at King's Park, where we left the car and waited on our train - wrongly anticipating a good football outcome...
After a 30 minute wait, the train arrived...
...and whisked us, on a roundabout route, to Central Station, from where we walked up to Bath St and St Judes, my toe giving me big gyp...
Drinks...
...and Brunch ensued...
Bob...
Anne...
Your correspondent..
Tasty...
Then, back to Central and my compadres hopped on a train back to Hampden for the big match...
I walked on to Missing...
...and spent some two hours there, trawling through stuff...
...and, eventually, buying these 9 CDs...
...for just £6...
Onwards, to Fopp, no purchases and a BHF or Shelter shop, I can't recall which, where these were secured for a further £2...
Then, on to Mono, my last venue of the day...
...where, in their second hand section, I hit pay dirt, picking up all of these...
...for just over £22, to take my total outlay for 24 titles to around £30 - just 75% of the cost of a cup final ticket...
I checked the game on my phone, not long to go and still 0-0...
Arrived back at Central with around 10 minutes left...
...and jumped on the train...
...back to King's Park...
...and to the car...
Extra time was now being played and The Rangers scored two goals in quick succession...
On the Radio, “Rangers have won their First Scottish Cup in 13 years”....
Eh???
Erm, no...
“The Rangers have won their First Scottish Cup” full stop.
Because, 13 years ago, it was Glasgow Rangers, a different club, who won the cup (while cheating by paying their players via illegal EBTs and avoiding tax and NI, thereby affording talent which they ought not to have been able to afford and giving themselves an unfair, unsporting advantage)...
That club was liquidated in 2012 owing millions to HMRC...
A new club with a similar name (initially though, Sevco) was admitted to the fourth tier of Scottish Football, ahead of teams who actually had the correct paperwork and records to legitimately do so...
And so the cheating and manipulation in Scottish Football continued unabated due to one thing...
Money...
Soon the area was filled with disappointed Hearts fans making their way home...
Post the bitter end, Anne and Bob joined me at the car and we journeyed home...
I dropped Anne at Wong's to place an order and took Bob home...
A tasty commiserative tea ensued...
...and ripping and listening awaited...
Luna was shocked at how many CDs had been bought...
...but rolled about on the floor nonetheless...
Here the final pile for the day...
...price stickers having been removed...
Luna soon assumed the position...
...as I recorded the purchases...
Despite all the new music, I ended the day with a Chicago double LP...
Highlight of the Day : Mono's second hand bargains...
