What's the weather like outside? Ten past eight...

Playlist
Hindemith - Das Klavierwek Vol II
Yes - Wonderous Stories : The Best of Yes
Tranatlantic - Kaleidoscope
Brian Eno - Songs
Elvis Presley - On Stage
David Bowie - The Next Day
Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel - Birmingham

A morning spent listening to recent acquisitions and creating compilations, all the tracks on which I already own...

At noon, over to my mum's to pick her up and drive, in her car ("it'll be good to give it a wee run son"), to Paisley to visit her old chum Pat, soundtracked by the songs of Brian Eno, or Fripp & Eno as my mum likes to call him...

Having weaved our way in and out of a rather tedious traffic jam as the motorway made its way through the centre of town, we arrived at Paisley just a few minutes after the allotted time of 2 pm...

I inadvertently took the wrong route as we approached Pat's apartment and then found myself driving the wrong way towards oncoming traffic...

Hopefully CCTV was not picking me up as I maneuvered over the central reservation to rectify matters...

With the two ladies set for an afternoon of chat, the Exec Producer and I made our way, passed the cathedral...

...to Gilmour St Station, from where my family departed on summer holidays back in the early sixties...

In Glasgow we split up and I visited my usual haunts - Fopp (Elvis Presley and The The), Missing (Tina Brooks) and then to Mono (Steve Harley and The Hollies), noting near the Tron that the building being demolished last time I passed has now disappeared...

Back to central station just before 5...

...and to Pat's for tea around six...

Here are the two chums-since-meeting-as-young-mums-in-the-early-60s - Pat proudly holding her iPad...

Their conversations were like scenes from the Deaf Stuntman sketches in the "Fast Show" - neither will admit to being hard of hearing but each was answering questions they patently hadn't been asked...

A bit of a hairy drive home through lashing rain with very poor visibility - so much so that we nearly ended up heading towards Carlisle...

Elvis was enjoyed - many of the songs are in the Capital Models covers repertoire...

Mum safely delivered home in the end and back to Crispycat Towers for some ripping and listening to the new acquisitions and then tonight's "Musketeers" on the Tivo box...

A good day...

Highlight of the Day : taking a trip...

David,
So good to see pics of Paisley where I studied what was then known as Paisley College. I also lived there for a few years while doing postgrad studies. I have fond memories of that town!

I spent my first six years or so in Paisley (ok 1st 6 months in Clarkston) - before the family moved East

I still like it - Anne is not keen!
