Capital Models - Rehearsal Tapes from Wednesday
This evening, a call out of the blue from chum Paul Reynolds...
He'd heard from a friend of Jamie's that Jamie had died today...
No, no surely that couldn't be right...
I called Jamie's wife Suzy, hoping my friend of thirty five years, my musical sparring partner over many, many, many of those years, would pick up the phone and it was all some awful misunderstanding...
But no, it was true - he'd been enjoying a round of golf with his brother and a friend on a well deserved day off and had suffered a heart attack...
I cannot believe it...
Indeed, on the bus home tonight, I was listening back to our recordings from Wednesday night, laughing at Jamie's antics and between song banter...
And now he's gone...
I am at a loss and my love goes out to Suzy, Madison and Conrad and to his mum and dad, his brothers and sister...
Dreadful, awful news...
A lovely, fun-loving, guy who always had a smile, a joke, a laugh or an encouraging word, no matter what the situation...
I am not ashamed to say I loved this man - and I am sure I told him so on many occasions, as we laughed and joked our way through life...
Jamie...

I worked for Jim at Lloyds and got a call this evening from his boss, utterly shellshocked, a really great guy, not often you can call your boss a friend but Jim was a friend, work wont be the same on Monday, heartfelt wishes out to all of his family and friends
Thanks for your kind words Gavin...
I suspect we are in no way alone in our admiration for this lovely man...
RIP Jim, like Gavin I am a Lloyds/Bank of Scotland employee who has had the pleasure of being managed by Jim early in my Career but he was more like a pal. My thoughts go out to Suzie, Madison and Conrad.
RIP Jamie. Sad day indeed. You were definitely one of the good guys. Best wishes to your family at this saddest of times. You'll be missed more than you could possibly know mate!
Jamie was the singer in our band Kid Charlemagne in the mid 90s and a nicer fella you couldn't hope to meet. All my favourite memories from those days involve Jamie. What an absolute tragedy. Taken far too young.
Hi Steve - I saw Kid Charlemagne when you guys were gigging. Jamie loved playing with the band and would often come into my shop on St Mary's St to let me hear recordings.
I don't have any in my archive though so, if you have any you'd be willing to share, I'd be interested in hearing them again.
best to you
Very happy to dig out some of our material with Jamie and pass it on to you David. What's the best way to get the tracks to you?
Hi Steve - if you go to crispycat.co.uk and use the contact e-mail there on the news page, we can sort something out
Cheers!
