Discovering something good I'd had all along but hadn't realised...

... and started the day with Miles Davis, while researching and writing the sleeve notes and credits for the next CBQ LP, "Broken"...

I was at the work station...

At 8:30, Anne was off to Pickleball...

Writing the notes and consulting this here diary, I was reminded that "Broken" was recorded kind of simultaneously with the LP coming out after it, in October, the ambient work "Elevation"...

So, I gave that a spin in the back room, while leafing through the catalogue for Documenta 12 back in 2007...

I was reminded that this sad little, badly taxidermised Giraffe, who ended up as an art exhibit, was the victim of Israeli aggression against the Palestinians, back in 2002...

...and that this work, “A Dance For Those of Us Whose Hearts Have Turned to Ice”...

...sparked the writing of a song with Niece Kitty, which, years later, ended up on my LP "Sparklemusik"...

Also, this morning, I put all 34,500 albums in my library on shuffle and, one of the first tracks to pop up was from the debut LP by Cambridge duo, Echo Tail...

It seems I downloaded it in November 2014 but, due to the then also incoming King Crimson “Starless” box set, I never got round to listening to it...

It’s excellent!

In the 12 years between me downloading it and finally listening to it, they have released a further 10 LPs (see new music below)...

Anne was home for lunch and we watched the next two of "Death Inc", before she headed off to Jane and Bob's for the walk to Tynecastle an this afternoon's match against Dundee Utd...

A 4-0 victory must have buoyed the souls of all Hearts fans - their first win under the new regime...

As a sweetener, of sorts (as they all hate Hibs, of course), Hibernian beat Scotland's newest club in Glasgow, 2-1, with the winner being virtually the last kick of the game...

Me?  I was watching The Tubes in San Francisco in 1985 and then listening to more music, spending some time with Paul McCartney, for my sins...

I also did the dishes...

On Anne's return an unpictured small chicken was cooked and enjoyed with potatoes and peas...

Which is a shame for the chicken, of course...

Football highlights enjoyed...

Later this evening, we finished what looks to be the final season on "Death Inc"...

Then, eschewing a 2 hour "Van Der Valk" due to the likelihood of us falling asleep, we enjoyed the first of "Murder in a Small Town", set in British Columbia on the Canadian "sunshine coast"...

We do like a murder mystery...

Bed around 11:30, with Herman Van Veen and, later, due to not drifting off, Pink Floyd...

The rest of this rather wasted Saturday was spent watching more TV (three "free" episodes of Apple TV's "Ted Lasso") and listening to more music...

So much so that, between those two early projects, there was no time to write the diary...

...as, today, we were heading to Bearsden for the funeral of my mum and dad's (and indeed, our) old friend, Moira Patterson, organised by her daughter Lindsay (my childhood friend) and her husband, Guy...

An uneventful bus journey...

...took us to Glasgow and, just of Sauchiehall St, "Grumpy Pedros" provided coffee/Coke Zero and carrot cake...

Short visits to Assai (this the paltry extent of their CD offering)...

...and the Scottish Design Exchange...

...and Waterstones - where, coincidentally, the book from which the titles of today's CBQ release are taken - and whose title was, at one point, the title of the LP......

To the bus stop...

...for a number 17 to Bearsden...

...and a coffee at the station, having ensured we'd arrived in ample time...

To the church around 2:10 and a big gathering already for the 2:30 start...

An excellent service, with Lindsay's eulogy a stand out, along with Moira's cousin's childhood reminiscences...

The theme from Lindsay was "Be More Moira" (as per the badges we were all given on leaving the church) - which means taking an interest in other people, always being inquisitive - and, enjoying sherry and crisps when you really ought to be making the tea for your only child instead of having her cook it herself...

Brilliant...

Sadly, Lex couldn't be here today - he is living with dementia but quite happy and well looked after at the nearby care home, coincidentally run by the same people as Anne's mum's home...

We eventually said our farewells and attempted to walk back to the station for the bus back to Glasgow...

Inevitably, we got lost and found ourselves at the next stop along the line and took a train to Central Station instead, followed by half a fish supper each and the bus home at 9pm...

A long and, although sad, of course, in the end, very enjoyable day and a good celebration of a life well lived!
