Slept in till 9:30...
At 10, out and a walk along to the nice bakery a few blocks away...
Shut...
Oh well - that was our last chance...
Breakfast from Carrefour as usual...
Out at 11:30, past the Nieuwe Linde...
...and on to a No 4 back to Berchem...
We were returning to Middleheim but, today, not for jazz but for art...
A bus from Berchem and then, a short walk...
...past the university...
...to the Middelheim Museum...
...which is, mostly, an open air sculpture park...
...and in at 12:30...
...for much wandering around and photographing of art...
I have a booklet with all the pieces' names and their creators but I'm not going to write them all in here...
Just enjoy them for what they are...
This was some party...
The big ball...
A bridge by Ai WeiWei...
Look closely...
Here you go...
Drawing and painting classes are held in this pavilion...
We went in but we did not draw or paint...
These were just the boards on which people put their paper/canvas to work but, for me, they constituted anonymous artworks and possible LP covers...
Back out for more sculpture...
I saw this piece "Misconceivable", by Erwin Wurm, in Nantes in October 2023...
Time for a rest...
...and some lunch...
A quick look inside the "castle"...
Then, onwards into the next garden...
Unpictured are the myriad schoolchildren who were running around, out of control...
Wait, there are some of them in the distance...
This is Balzac by Rodin...
Someone's having a good time...
Back over the road to our next destination - the "waiting area" for pieces...
...and municipal statues and parts thereof, here for repair work...
Time for another drink...
...and another quick look inside the "castle"...
...and at the boat...
Then, the long walk back to the bus stop...
...past the library...
...and out at 4:45...
A bus back to Berchem and then a No 9 into the centre of the old town...
To El Torro Negro for steaks and frites for our final dinner in Antwerp...
Yum- tastic - cooked to perfection...
...and scoffed...
Just before 7, we paid our final visit to the main square, from where we walked home...
...via Kloosterstraat...
...and the Vlaamsekai...
In all, around 40 minutes....
An evening of packing and watching the Netherlands thrash Malta 8-0 on the newly repaired TV...
To bed at 10:40, early rise tomorrow...
Highlight of the Day : The Sculpture Park...
