Their “Burlesque” single in Autumn 1972 was the first record I owned on which Mr W participated. So many since have joined it in my collection but that tune will always have a special place…
Then, John Cale’s 1975 LP “Slow Dazzle”, a fave since purchasing 2nd hand, autumn 1976 and which opens with “Mr Wilson”, his tribute to Brian & the Boys. Also contains his take on “Heartbreak Hotel”. On Presley’s death, Cale said he thought Elvis had already died upon hearing that track…
Checked the diary - bought the LP on Saturday 18 Sept 1976 for £1.10 (£10.87 in today's money)...
Saw the film "Tommy" that night too...
Leafed through the last The Wire I bought (April) and noted 12 LPs I might like to investigate...
But will I?
