Up to update this and prep the podcast, including recording the last half hour and removing all the botches...

Let the work begin...

Breakfast just after 9...

...and some listening back to the podcast, before leaving at 10:30 to take Anne to her mum's and, then, head to the Ocean Terminal Shopping Mall...

The beast was once again in music buying mode...

...arriving at 11...

...to meet up with Dr Prog for today's Record Fair...

There he is, on the right, third from the bottom of the pic - unaware he has been spied from above...

He'd already bought some music DVDs - Cream, Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell (very much one of his faves) and Joan Armatrading...

Once downstairs, I partook of these...

John McLaughlin live in Paris...

...and a disc of solo piano music by the best keyboard player Yes ever had, Patrick Moraz...

Upstairs to HMV...

Nothing for Dr PRog, but I found this 4CD box of "modern" dub reggae - deciding to take a chance (I'm normally not keen on anything reggae-wise post 70's) and go for it, after quickly reading some online reviews...

As always on these meet ups, Dr Prog was hungry, so we stopped in at a place in the mall doing Indian wraps and bowls and partook of the bowls - which, to be fair, were mostly filled with rice...

Some chat re what's been a-happenin' - including Mrs Prog's recent decision to retire and band stuff - Phil (Dr Prog) is the older brother of drummer Johnny...

Then, a short drive to The Haven - Dr Prog wanted coffee and cake - who was I to deny him - here he is surveying the fayre at the counter...

...and looking pleased with his choices - flat white and chocolate cake...

...with your correspondent opting for an Americano with hot milk on the side and passion fruit cake...

After more chat re music and streaming and how we listen and hi fi set ups and headphones and recent bands worth investigating, it was time to part, the Doc heading back into town on foot...

I drove home - Anne, meanwhile was in Corstorphine having enjoyed time with her mum, and then having headed to chum Lynn's for a nice cup of tea and then the two of them having taken a walk towards Crispycat Hill and now looking round the local shops...

I stopped off in Davidson's Mains on the way back, having spied a Cancer Research shop and picked up some more CDs at just 50p each...

And so, I returned home with this as my haul for the day...

...having taken a chance on a few things...

Gotan Project mix CD based around tango - better than that sounds...

Cuban Music from bassist Orlando "Cachaito" López and his chums...

Multi Juno award winning and sadly departed at just 39 Canadian singer out of Mexico, Lhasa - there was another by her there too, which, in hindsight and having listened to this, I ought to have taken a chance on too but I left it behind - I should go back...

A disc of tasty sufism...

...some Baghdad club remixes...

...some French (or in French) laid back jazz - including, worth it on its own for the outlay, a rarity by Nico (later of the Velvet Underground) from 1962...

A Bauhaus album I'd considered downloading the other day for my 1981 project - no need to now...

The debut LP from Cake - who, you will recall, were responsible for the theme tune to, probably our favourite programme ever, "Chuck"...

A disc of Bach based piano music, from Turk Fazil Say - this one led me to discover exactly how to rip WEA related CDs which have been encrypted with anti ripping software - you hold down the shift key as you insert the CD into the disc drive and Bob's your uncle...

And so I was subsequently able to rip the IDeal CD bought in Glasgow a couple of weeks back...

..and, to round the selection up to ten (having not realised how good Lhassa was), a disc of "not bad" French rock music...

Some ripping and listening ensued, followed by a tasty riceless (due to the rice earlier in the day) Dhansak for me and samosa and kebab for the EP and two episodes of "Breaking Bad - which, once again, had a depressing end...

Whatsapp messages with the band - we will play again next Sunday, which is good...

A message from Dr Prog brought new to us band, Black Midi to my attention...

Some items downloaded for tomorrow, because I only bought 15 hours of music today...

More listening and ripping of the new stuff, two "Modern Family" and bed...

Saturday over...

Highlight of the Day : Out and about with Dr Prog...
