As I write this, I m 19 days ahead of you, on 20th May...

Still trying to get up to date...

Anyway, up...

This, believe it or not, is destined to become the cover of my, at this point, not even thought about, next "classical" album, "Haydn"...

Coffee...

Hare...

...and, under these skies...

Saturday morning. New, possibly best month. Prepping the podcast which, rarely these days, I managed to record all of last night. Uploaded and out around 8...

The 18th #eclectic selection of 2021, 33 tracks including my LPs of the day for the last week, a classical piece for each of the last 7 days, 2 songs from my new LP, out next Friday; and a cover of Rhinestone Cowboy from a sunny garden...

As regards 1997, my Top 100m having been whittled down to 75, 50, 30, 20 and then 10 was revealed as these...

1 Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F#A#Infinity
2 Radiohead - OK Computer
3 Stars of the Lid - The Ballasted Orchestra
4 Craig Armstrong - The Space Between Us
5 Madredeus - O Paraiso

Uptown today for the first time in over 4 months. I'd been looking forward to that. Not Thursday but I was calling the goats and chariot into action...

On shuffle - some of the 188 tracks (16 hours of music) that's on the "Waiting List" to get on the Podcast...

To the Saturday place and a walk to Newington...

Of course, I made a few wee purchases too for the first time since Xmas Eve...

Enjoyable but, also, the way things were was vaguely depressing...

Anyway...

Uh oh...

A disc of Countertenor arias. Mr Guadagni changed the face of opera it seems.  If you like countertenor arias, this is a disc for you...

Another disc of Countertenor material by Iestyn Davies - this time with the Ensemble Gaudagni recorded live at the Wigmore Hall

Beautiful...

Lovely 3CD box set of Monteverdi by Cantus Colln, Concerto Palatino and Konrad Junghaenel...

Someone got rid of their David Lang/Bang on a Can collection.  It has found a grateful new home...

No doubt I have recordings of these two Haydn masses already somewhere - let me check - hmmm. It appears not.  Bingo!  Ah, wait, yes I do.  Oh well.  You can never have too much Haydn...

Another David Lang related disc but with added Berio and Betty Olivero.  Nice...

When you see box of Beethoven's Complete Symphonies which you don't already have and it's only a fiver, can you say "no"?  Maybe you can.  But me? Well, for less than the price of two coffees, no, I can't (and I got another one yesterday)...

A 2CD set of what is, to all intents and purposes, progressive rock...

I had not heard the music of Mr Harper before acquiring this disc. It's most impressive.  And it features the Exec Producer's cousin on bassoon...

Featuring musicians brought together from Mali and Cuba by the producers of Buena Vista Social Club, this is a tasty disc indeed...

A beautiful, glacially slow 42 minute piece is the only item on this CD.  That's fine by me.    Recommended - if you can find it...

Wandering around, now with everything in my 265GB phone on shuffle...

This came up...

Finally, to Fopp - all of the above purchases were made in the first shop I visited of around 8 or 9, all of the last 7 or 8 resulting in zero purchases...

I noted this new compilation by Yello...

...but did not partake...

I noted some comps of Deutsche Elektronische Musik but also did not partake...

I did, however, get this...

It's, basically, Roxy Music (sans Mackay), plus guests, at the Royal Albert Hall, playing a set of covers with a couple of Ferry originals thrown in - in a very nice book format...

So that was my first this year from Fopp - good to get back there...

Further trawling produced no further purchase though I swithered about this Seekers LP my mum and dad used to have...

Walked back to the car, passed the Odeon Cinema, scene of my first few gigs, Wizzard, Uriah Heep (twice) and, also, Buzzcocks a few years later....

Back to the car...

...and home, to find the hare, finished...

Here, the progress...

1st of May and I’ve already bought four times as many CDs as in April or January and six times as many as in March...

Not quite hit the 20 acquired in February. Overall total, a measly 40 for 2021 so far. This time last year, it was around 200...

To playing the first of today’s haul, which comprised 12 titles, 21 discs in all, and doing so on my actual CD player, just for a change...

...which was nice...

Later on, some telly and bed...

A good Saturday...

Highlight of the Day : Shopping for music in actual shops...
