Continuing with my Triumvirate of Jazz Fusion listening today with the last of Weather Report and the studio output of Return to Forever and the Mahavishnu Orchestra...
There is some absolutely brilliant music in the canons of these three outfits but I must say, some of the tracks have only reinforced my belief that there is absolutely no place for vocals in jazz...
I'd love to hear these with every vocal removed from the mix...
Inspired by this listening, I popped to (the saved by Sunrise Records of Canada this week) Fopp and picked up a 5 CD set by RTF drummer Lenny White - which, to be honest, is more funk than jazz...
On the way back, this was nabbed for 50p at the BHF shop...
Despite the presence of ace jazz guitarist Nguyen Le, this disc of Vietnamese music is a little too folky perhaps...
But, hey ho...
In the evening, these ripped and added to the phone for listening and "Death in Paradise" enjoyed...
Good too to see the SNP unexpectedly taking an absolute pasting from the Motherwell audience on "Question Time"...
Cue calls for an enquiry into the "biased" BBC from the bunch of whinging, grievance mongering, economically illiterate fuckers LOL...
"This Week" finished off the day...
Lights out...
Highlight of the Day : SNP getting a pasting...
