The view from the office this morning...

A visit to Jorg's basement to view his record collection - around 1,000 of his LP's are "missing" post their delivery from his erstwhile marital home...

All a little sad and rather disheartening to say the least...

Breakfast and then, into Kassel with Jorg and Manuella...

...for the first of two visits to the quinquennial artsfest that is Documenta...

Around the city there are many reminders of Documentas I - XIII...

The focal point this time round is the Parthenon of Books...

Big queues still, despite the city-wide exhibition nearing the end of its 100 days...

Given this, we decided to concentrate on open air exhibits today and come back tomorrow for the indoor treats...

The Parthenon holds copies of books which have been banned by various regimes around the world who wanted to control their populace's thoughts...

...and include some strange titles, given those governments' goals...

Here, two of my favourites sat next to each other...

Smoke has been billowing from the roof of the art gallery since June...

Nearby, a piece was attracting crowds...

...and causing some head-scratching...

Over into the Staatspark Karlsaue...

...where this has been in place now for over five years...

This is a beautiful space - this time, there are far fewer exhibits in the park though...

This is the main piece - a recreation of a machine from a Bolivian silver mine which used child labour to produce its goods...

Jorg and Manuella were enjoying the sun...

There were some weirdly attired individuals in attendance...

A flower garden was also attractive for your correspondents...

...or rather, flower track...

In the distance the next piece...

...towards which we made our way across the park, taking in the views...

Some bemusement seemed evident...

Onwards...

Two and a half hours in, some sustenance was sought...

The Neu Kafe was, unfortunately, closed - as the rain started...

Up the hill...

...and refuge achieved from a torrential downpour...

Coffee and bier...

As the skies cleared we made our way into the city again...

More big art...

We have spent a goodly number of New Years Eves on this monument, The Herkules, which sits high on a hill outside the city...

"Come on Dave, stop taking so many pics"....

Berlin Ampelmen are now in place in Kassel it seems...

Onto the Konigstrasse...

...and into a bakery for Kaffee und Kuchen...

The weather was brightening...

Souvenirs were partaken of by your correspondent for, probably, far too much of an outlay on a couple of books...

More big art...

Record shops were, of course, visited and both Jorg and I spent more cash...

...before heading to Anadolu for tea...

Yum!

A drive home as the sun went down...

...and the moon came up...

New purchases were enjoyed...

...and good chat too, before we called it a night...

A good day...
