Huge playlist today as I was on shuffleplay - the playlist selected was my vinyl collection 1972-1988...

Post breakfast, out, down the hill and an airport bus into town...

A walk down the Royal Mile to Holyrood Palace, a place neither of us has visited...

I won't bore you with all the details but you can read more about this impressive complex at the link above...

Into the courtyard...

The fountain is a Victorian addition, behind it is the "new" wing...

...the "old" wing is to the left...

...and in we went...

The out-take...

...the in-take...

No photography was allowed inside...

Here are some pics I took...

The great stairway...

The dining room...

The throne room...

The drawing room

The windows of the Palace, as you would expect, afford good views of the gardens...

Music room...

The King's bed chamber...

The Great Gallery houses portraits of every Scottish king...

Commissioned by Charles II, the 110 portraits, beginning with the legendary Fergus I, who supposedly ruled from 330 BC, were completed in just two years, between 1684 and 1686, by the Dutch painter Jacob de Wet II...

On to Mary Queen of Scots' and Lord Darnley's rooms...

Darnley's bed...

Mary's bed...

The spot where Rizzio's body was left following his murder...

Out...

...and to the abbey...

Some close ups...

...and further out...

...to the gardens...

...round the back of the abbey...

...and of the palace...

Finally, back to the courtyard...

A very enjoyable 90 minutes or so...

A walk back up the Royal Mile and round into Market St where, opposite the council offices...

...we lunched at Ronaq...

Yum!

A walk through Princes St Gardens for the bus home...

...and a walk down Crispycat Hill...

...where this wee monkey was spotted...

A couple of "Arene Dahl"s enjoyed, as was the fact that our neighbours have finally had their garden tidied, including a surprise grass cut...

That's better...

Highlight of the Day : A wander round a palace...
