Much of today spent in the pit of ongoing lurgi but taking the opportunity to listen to the dark ambient sounds of what now looks to be the finalised version of the new CBQ album...

It'll be a 2CD set with twenty of the pieces edited to between seven and eight minutes and four at around 3 mins each...

When I first started this project fifteen months ago (the last recordings were made a year ago this week!), the initial thought was to produce music which lasted 24 hours...

While I have around fifteen and a half hours of material, all in all, when counting the various formats together, the 24 hour target has been met, albeit with some measure of duplication...

The formats will be:-
  1. A Single disc of 3 minute edits
  2. A Single disc of four cross faded "movements", each of around 17:30, comprising the three minute edits
  3. A 2CD set as described above - this will be the version available as a digital download
  4. A 4CD set comprising four hours of music, featuring 10 minute edits
  5. A 24CD set with the full fifteen and a half hours of music included, by way of one full piece on each disc, with timings varying from 17:08 to 65:17
In addition, the physical versions of formats 3 to 5 will come with a book of the twenty four paintings which are an integral part of the project, while format 5 will also include the discs from the first four versions, giving a total of 32 discs and a running time of just of 24 hours...

Mission, therefore, kind of accomplished...

Elsewhere, a reasonable refund offered out of the blue by the company who have now, presumably, beefed up their packaging, re this, inflicted on my recently received Gerhard Richter's "Atlas"...

Fair do's in the tripe shop...

They offered a replacement but, really, while much appreciated, that would just have been too much hassle...

Along with more tasty home made soup and crusty rolls, on telly, the returns of "Big Bang" and "Drifters" cheered and banished the lurgi for an hour or so...

Highlight of the Day : Finalisation...
