Playlist
Up early and, instead of writing this, I somehow got sucked into my playlist of "An Album a Month" which is one LP released in each month of each year I've been alive...
At the end of this year I will hit 800...
Hence the large playlist above...
A break for breakfast - including a surprise double yoker...
Ah, it was the weekend...
After a morning of almost getting things up to date re the playlist - I went through every choice on there and updated around 20 - a drive into town for a recital back at the cathedral...
The stage was set...
...for cellist Layla Ballard and pianist Archie Bonham...
A superb programme of cello sonatas by Debussy and Prokofiev, rounded off by Moeran's beautiful Prelude, which nicely offset the complexities of the first two works...
Superb...
At two, back out to the car...
...and a drive to the Corstorphine Inn for lunch...
Home and more honing of the playlist, finalising matters...
Meanwhile, Queen of the South beat Peterhead at home 4-0, which was good...
Some beans on toast for tea before setting out for the Purple Orange in Bathgate - a fine little venue that only opens on a Saturday night, unless booked for a private function...
Capital Models bassist and one time Capital Models drummer, Keith, was tonight drumming with his other band, the GI Joes...
Support came from Motherwell's The Austins - with some fine self written Americana...
...which was followed by a top set of rockin' covers from the Keith and the Joes - only two songs overlapped with the Models' covers, "Teenage Kicks" and "Mister Brightside"...
Keith also vocalising...
Excellent tight performance from the quartet...
Around 10:30 it was all over and we headed home...
...to find rather a large spider in the soon to be renovated living room...
A good day and bed beckoned at midnight...
Highlight of the Day : Music performances and playlist refinement...
