Another beautiful day...

...on which nothing of any consequence happened...

I started the laborious task of bringing this up to date after having let it lie for over a week...

This allowed the opportunity to savour new to me bands, Red Sparowes (sic) and God is an Astronaut...

On telly, the final of "Celebrity Masterchef" and, late on, yet another "Person of Interest", entertained...

This and the last three days still to do tomorrow morning...

As my listening to the 19 discs of my Prog Rock compilation drew to a close, 20th Century Classical took on the challenge to entertain...

Much of the evening of this horrible rainy day was spent sorting through the pics from last weekend, deciding what to post here...

However, today's pics are of the dOCUMENTA (13) mug from which I am sipping a lovely coffee as I bring this up to date on Saturday morning...

A small hard drive was loaned to me by Prog Rock Willie, featuring albums which his son has sent from Australia...

It's a small world...

On Willie's recommendation, the first listen was Norwegian band Circus Maximus - and, having muchly entertained, this tip was passed on to Dr Prog who had texted to congratulate Queens on last night's performance...

I advised all credit to The Rangers for taking a club 15 places above them to a penalty shoot out...

Some new Post-Rock stuff on the drive to explore too...

At Fopp, I spent two of your English pounds on Mogwai's soundtrack to the film "Zidane" and very good it is too...

Later on, Meg the Black Cat joined me on the settee as we watched...

..the mighty Queen of the South...

...knock The Rangers FC out of the Ramsdens Cup...

...4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw failed to be resolved in extra time...

My namesake, Gavin Reilly, had saved the day with what looked like an offside goal in the 94th minute...

...the kind of thing the old Glasgow Rangers used to enjoy so much in the old days...

Welcome to the real world...

Here are penalty heroes, Ryan McGuffie, who kept his nerve in front of over 20,000 booing Sevco fans to slot home the winning spot kick - and goalie Lee Robinson who saved one of Newco's pens...

While this was QoS's first ever game against The Rangers FC, the last time they beat the now defunct Glasgow Rangers was 1955 - and the last time at Ibrox was 1948...

A good night for the Doonhamers...

Of course, it's only a game though...

Outside, the East Coast Line trains whizzed by...

Kids had one last go on the trampoline...

...and, amazingly, we were ready to leave the house as we found it by the designated hour of ten...

By twelve, Mary was back home and we were greeted by Meg - well looked after by chum Lynn over the weekend...

In the afternoon and evening, I enjoyed the newly arrived guide book to Documenta XII which I did not purchase in 2007 - along with a DVD, bought from Amazon just prior to our departure, "Gerhard Richter Painting" by Corinna Belz...

Excellent...

A great weekend but good too to be home again...

Our third day and another good breakfast...

...and young ladies on the trampoline...

...and platting hair...

..and watching brothers not quite fit into cars...

We drove to Craster and then went on a long walk...

...to Dunstaneburgh Castle...

Jane and co took the beach route...

...while the rest of us were more conventional...

The Red Arrows buzzed us on the way to entertain at the start of the Great North Run... 

...the walk continued...

..some of us ran to be first to the castle...

Your correspondent was content to plod...

...and arrived too...

By this time the rain was pelting down...

...and the ruins were particularly bleak...

...and so, we were soon on our way back...

...with a wet and cold Mr CBQ at the forefront...

Lunch at the Jolly Fisherman...

...watching the world go by...

...and the local wildlife...

...and the local produce...

...before heading home again...

...to regroup and change out of soaking clothes and shoes...

In the afternoon, to nearby Howick Hall...

...and its very picturesque gardens...

...which Mary particularly enjoyed...

...as did all sets of young lovers...

...not to mention Keith and Maureen...

Anne's mum was snapping away...

...while the Exec Producer boned up on the history...

A church in the grounds was enjoyed...

..followed by further walking through the woods...

To the tearooms...

Not a great tea drinker, I did however feel I ought to try the Earl Grey, since this house was where the concoction was invented...

Back into the sun...

...and a rainbow on the way home...

The day was rounded off with an enormous Chinese takeaway...

...and more drinking and carousing...

Another good day...
