Up late...
Some work done before exiting at 10:30 - today, we were off to Dumfries to see Queen of the South take on recently relegated to the 2nd tier, Ross County - our first visit to Palmerston, in, I think, 1999, was to see this same fixture - Queens lost...
Arrived at the ground around 12:30, parked and walked into the town...
Enjoyed a tasty light lunch at Mrs Green's...
We were served by a very pleasant and talkative wee boy (unpictured) who, we reckoned, was around 12 years old, if that...
Excellent Americanos...
Cheese & Ham Toastie for Anne, Pulled Pork Ciabatta for me...
Cheesiest Cheesie toastie ever...
A walk around the run down town - such a shame when a place gets like this - very difficult to see a way back for it, ever...
Around 2:20, headed back to the ground...

The pitch is considerably younger and was in superb condition...
A glance at the team sheet...
This from the net...
Hewitt was referred to as Keanu Reeves for the afternoon...
And off we went...
The seagulls were menacing...
We'd wanted a view with no pillars, with better seats, comfortable seats The seats we bought, had been stolen when we arrived...
At half time, a report sent to nephew Olly - "So far, v impressed w Queens. On top for most of the half but no goals so, will, no doubt, lose…"
Prescient...
Missed out on the half time draw (£155) by just 7 digits...
Second half, Ross County were on top for most of the half and scored a wondergoal with around 20 minutes to go...
At the death, Queens goalie was up for a late corner...
All to no avail....
A 1-0 loss but Queens did play surprisingly well and probably deserved the draw (which would have given them a chance of an extra point via penalties)...
We had intended to stop at Biggar on the way home, for an Indian or Fish & Chips but it was absolutely pelting down when we got there so we drove on and acquired two fish and some chips from the Bar B Q at the bottom of the hill, enjoyed at home...
This evening, time, once again, to write up the book of CDs...
...and watch the day slip away...
...with the last in the not very good most recent series of "Not Going Out"...
Highlight of the Day: Queens, live...
