Preaching to the converted, perhaps...

Playlist

Up super early but, for once on a Friday, not straight to trawling for new releases...

Instead...

...post notes taken yesterday during the listen back, more painstaking work on the "Swan Songs" project, moving and occasional re-tuning of bits of vocal and, even, inserting alternative voicings from false starts...

Took the thing up to all 13 tracks now being in the main LP - funnily enough, the ex bonuses all being applied to the early part of the set, sandwiched betwen the initial Joni Mitchell track and the rest of what had been the 8 song finalised set (with 5 songs as bonuses)...

Let's see how that goes...

The things you do for an LP, currently, not coming out for another 11 months, at least...

Also this morning, pre breakfast, gathering the 20 songs the band will play a week today at the final get together of the year - we have each chosen 5 songs not played for a good while...

Created a new set list and provided the MP3s in order that the chaps might rehearse at home in preparation for the meet...

Breakfast and, then, Anne was off to Zumba - I did some judisious downloading (as ever) and then set off for a 10am dental check up...

No work required...

Yay!

Home and a quick change and adding today's new stuff to the Samsung and, then, to the gym...

My listening, despite loadsa great new music being available to me, was the Capital Models set...

Home and adding all the new stuff into the main database...

New Room Set Up Version 7,894…

Anne gardened while I listened to tracks from the new input to the library...

Then, some CDs for #CDFriday...

...for which I also drew people's attention to this video, which explains a lot about the love of the CD...

I admitted that posting this with the #CDFriday hashtag was probably preaching to the converted but, well, you know...

I was not embarrassed in the least to post about giving a spin to this box set, knowing full well many might look upon it with disdain. 10 CDs, 200 pieces. £2 to a good cause in October 2024…

Then, one of my earliest classical box set purchases…

Around 30 years ago…

And, one of around 20 Trojan Box Sets in the collection…

Another will arrive on Xmas morning, I believe...

Finally, from the Trojan “Spirit of ‘69” box set, I played the 30 minute “Jackpot of Hits” LP…

Tasty!

A takeaway ordered from the Bayleaf for the first time in a very long time...

Delighted to find it was waiting for me when I arrived...

Bought bhajees to start, utilising the free sauce and onions provided with free poppadoms...

Vegetable Pathia for me - delicious, if a little large...

I coped...

Chicken Karai for Anne, half left for tomorrow...

..and a top naan...

All of that followed by Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse's Xmas 2022 episode of "Gone Fishing" (I think that's what it's called) - what a great entertaining and relaxing and funny programme this is...

They were in Norway that year...

Some listening to Roy Wood - inspired by this Guardian article re his "20 Best Songs" - I feel a playlist coming on...

Genius...

And closed the day with a few pieces from this Chamber music box set, going from Matthew Locke to Wolfgang Rihm...

Lovely...

Bed at midnight...

Highlight of the Day: Curry...
