From rising at 5:45...
...until the early evening, other than playing "I Re-Arranged the House" a couple of times and watching a "Cold Case" at lunchtime, I spent almost the entire day identifying points where I was doing nothing in "Keepsake", finding elements to use, doing all the timings and planning and mixing and listening and trying to "play" it live...
Was that a waste of a day?
Possibly...
At first I reckoned it probably was but, post tasty tea...
...on listening in the car this evening as I drove to Out of the Bedroom, it seemed, it worked, albeit with a couple of jarring items which need attention...
Arrived in good time to secure a slot and helped old chum Jim Igoe in with the equipment...
At 8, Jim introduced the 800th night...
...and reminded performers that it was one song each in a five minute slot...
1st up, spoken word from Geoff Winde (who left at the break)...
Then, Mike Wheelan...
American debutant, Jotham (who left at the break)...
Songstress, Ailsa and the Sea Horses (who left at the break)...
Aussie debutant, Mr Tom Hunt (who left at the break)...
The ever entertaining Grant B Robertson...
Pixie Moonshine (who, as always, left at the break)...
Returning after months in a neck brace following a bike accident, auto-harpist, Brea Mason (who left at the break)...
The impressive young man (I thought anyway, but later realised she was a girl), Orli Taylor (who valiantly stayed for the first 5 performers post the break)...
The electric guitar and multi FX pedal wielding debutant, Josh Booker (who left at the break)...
The fuzzy (through no fault of her own) piano playing Erica Grande (who left at the break)...
The also fuzzy (through no fault of her own) piano playing and, possibly, sister of Pixie, Zoe Moonshine...
Then, the break...
Into part two with another debutant, Steve Anderson...
The good, apart from the shouty bits, debutant, Devon Reardon...
Cloudland Blue Quartet - I played at OOTB for the first time at No 59, way back in February 2003 and, tonight, played the first song I wrote, specifically to be sung at OOTB, also in February 2003...
Two more debutants, Rufus Beckett...
..and Robbie Hayden...
And, another, Oliver Gombrich...
Then, Mr Ross Nielson, who was also a performer at OOTB back in the early 2000s...
And another stalwart for the last maybe 12 years or so, Tina Avery...
Further newbie, Callum Laval...
And New Zealander (I think), Leah Kelsey...
Old timer and another OOTB stalwart, Jim Bryce...
Scott Renton, who first played OOTB around 2004...
And, fittingly, the night ended with Mr Jim Igoe, founder and performer since 2001 at OOTB No 1...
A very good night indeed...
My top twelve of the night were Jotham, Ailsa and the Sea Horses, Grant B Robertson, Orli Taylor, Cloudland Blue Quartet (of course!), Rufus Beckett, Robbie Hayden, Ross Nielson, Tina Avery, Leah Kelsey, Scott Renton and Jim Igoe...
Not that music's a competition of course...
I listened to me fucking up my song on the way home, recorded on my phone...
And, of course, "Keepsake" one more time...
Home and lights out...

Well done being there and performing, must've been crowded. Didn't realize it was up to 800 nights. Love the "left at the break" observations - some things don't change much.
The curse of the open mic is, there is no actual audience, just other performers.
