Nothing required post this - well, nothing "big" anyway...
Out into the sun...
...and a walk to the castle...
Past the old jail...
...and up the hill...
Much better views than yesterday...
Our target in the distance...
Before going up to the castle, we stopped at St Mary's Church...
...and visited the grave of Anne Bronte - she came here in a vain attempt to have her TB cured but died at just 28...
Onward to the castle...
...where we spent almost two hours going round every nook and cranny and listening to the audio guide for info...
The ramparts afforded further good views of the North Bay...
It was freezing up on top of the Keep...
Managed to get both bays in this panoramic shot...
The South Bay was our post castle target...
But there was still loads to see...
This chapel was once a Roman Signal Station, where they used what became Semaphore and Morse Code...
We would walk past here later...
And out...
...and down into the town above the South Bay...
A hoard of CDs was inside this market but nothing enticed...
We waked down to the beach...
Anne was deemed too big for a donkey ride. I was deemed far too big for one...
To the harbour...
Ice cream for lunch, again...
We walked out to the lighthouse...
...before, possibly foolishly, deciding to walk right round Marine Drive...
...past this statue of Freddie Gilroy and the Belsen Stragglers...
...and, finally, back to the Watermark Cafe - no scones left so cake it was...
We walked back to Peasholm Park...
..and were the last people onto the boats for the weekend...
...at my sometime lack of effort...
We spied an unable to be picture rat on the shore...
Post alighting, we crossed to the island briefly before it closed for the evening...
We identified a venue for tonight's meal - Florino's Italain...
...for pizza...
...and lasagne...
Superb, tasty and just within their "happy hour" rules too...
Result...
A walk home...
...to the Monico...
A good Sunday...
Highlight of the Day: Walking around seeing stuff...
