One year on from a call in a Madrid Bodega...

Playlist

Right!

I now have seven days to write up...

Never a good position to be in...

Up just after seven...

...and final prep for the trip done, but no breakfast taken...

We left at 8:45...

First stop was Dunbar, around an hour later...

...where breakfast was enjoyed...

...at the Bull & Bear...

Lovely rolls...

Back on the road, we were being soundtracked by a few chosen full LPs re a "road trip" playlist, hastily cobbled together earlier this morning...

We did not stop again until Guisborough, which acted as our base when I played in Whitby last November...

We both...

...opted for the special...

...at Koselig...

Yowsah!

...and. post lunch, in the animal welfare charity shop, they were offering 5 CDs for £1 - how could I not try and find a quintet?

And so, these joined the fray...

Then, onwards to Whitby and to our home for the next two nights, Dillons...

Lovely as the rolls and sandwiches above...

Unpacked and out to explore and regain our Whitby bearings...

Into the centre...

...and up the hill to the Flowergate...

...with these views...

Back down to the river and over the bridge...

We noted that, coincidentally, Anne was wearing a keepsake re my mum, who died a year ago today - the pearl on a chain...

Nice...

We found a spot...

...for quiet drinks...

"The Meeting Place", an outlet for the nearby Helmsley Brewery...

The sun was out...

...so much so that, eventually, we moved indoors...

Drinks consumed, a further walkabout ensued...

Back over the bridge...

...and up a different hill to the Flowergate....

...and to the Arch & Abbey, where we'd enjoyed drinks last time with Andy of TQ magazine, who had invite me to play at his curated element of the weekend festival...

A cider enjoyed...

A walk back past tomorrow night's venue...

...and back down the hill, noting this typographical error...

How could we come to Whitby and not have fish & chips...

Locals advised Trenchers was the best...

Haddock for the EP, cod for Mr CBQ...

Enjoyed down at the riverside...

A constitutional thereafter....

Out along one of the piers at the harbour...

...and back again and along to our place in the gathering dark...

It had been a good Thursday...

Highlight of the Day : Back in Whitby...
