Up at 6...
...and writing this...
...and listening to the instrumental version of Yes's "Close to the Edge"...
...under treated skies....
A query about "Soft Machine Volume 2" - I did not play it but advised the format in which I have it...
Someone asked about the first LP I bought with my own money...
Here it is...
I gave it a spin...
Then, post correspondence with old chum, Petra Stokes, with Anne at Zumba, off I went, out for a meet up with Petra and her brother Niels - my first time seeing Niels for over 35 years - and Petra for not much less a time gap...
A wander first, while they did some touristy stuff...
Fopp suggested...
...but I did not know what I already had...
Listening to this, which was good (post the new, coming out next year, CBQ comp, "Drift")...
A visit to the robot place at the University...
...and, in the pouring rain....
...being reminded of what Teviot Row looked like when I went there in 1977/78...
I was in a chazza, looking at these and seeing nothing of interest, when the call came...
To the Museum and the second floor...
...and here they were...
Good chat, then, over, past Greyfriars Bobby...
..and into the pub for drinks and more chat...
We were soon joined by Anne, post a visit to her mum, and, after a while, and much finding out about what we'd all been up to and an attempted but failed Facetime with Petra's husband, Mark, in London (with whom I shared a room in Munich in 1979), a walk down the Royal Mile...
We ended at Holyrood Palace for a coffee and a small cake, split 4 ways...
...just before it was set to close at 6...
Back out into the not so heavy as before rain...
The Beast, Niels and an unidentified child...

A long walk back to Princes St, via Waverley Station ensued...
Highlight of the Day : An afternoon with Petra and Niels...
..where this young girl played Grieg's "Hall of the Mountain King" very well indeed, on the platform...
A long wait for our chums' bus back to Linlithgow, where they are staying, Anne and I alighting near her mum's home to pick up our car - and it was all over...
Hopefully, it will not be another 35 or more years until we see each other again, or I will be 100...
Prawn pasta for tea...
Followed by listening...
Today's 2 for a pound haul...
I'm going to keep this despite (it turns out) having bought it at a record fair for 4 times today's price back in 2018 - as that was a US pressing and this is the UK version - the music and cover, apart from a few words, are exactly the same...
I'm pretty sure I have recordings of all but perhaps 1 of the pieces on this...
But the PDSA got £1 so, its all good...
This evening, we binged the remainder of "Black Snow"...
Very good - hopefully there will be more...
This morning I downloaded several LPs of music by the composer from the series, Jed Palmer...
"Black Snow" itself is not available anywhere at present...
Recommended it to Edward Spark and it influenced him to recommence work on his proposed Ambient LP...
Which was good...
To bed at almost 1...
A good, if wet, day...
P.S. some pics from 35 years ago...
