A trip to that London today, leaving the house around seven thirty...

...and a bus into Waverley station...

...where reading material was purchased...

..along with pastries, to enjoy with onboard coffee...

The four and a half hour journey took us through Berwick...

..Newcastle..

...Durham...

...Darlington...

...and York...

Reading, listening and viewing were enjoyed...

...before arriving bang on time, just before one, at King's Cross...

To our apartment...

...and unpacked...

To nearby Moreish Deli on Marchmont St for a quick lunch...

...before taking the tube from Russell Square down to Covent Garden and shoe central, Neal Street...

This was Anne's target...

...sadly though, no suitable footwear was located...

Meanwhile, your correspondent had purchased discs by Lee Scratch Perry and Bryan Ferry and drinks were required to soften the blows of both disappointment and unrequired outlays...

Into SoHo and Anne went off up to Oxford St for more shoe/boot hunting, while I trawled through Reckless (Trapist and Josef K), the new Sister Ray (nothing), Phonica (nothing - and where a very much proven to have been ahead of their time Yello were on the sound system) and Harold Moore's (triple set by Danish drummer Stefan Pasborg)...

Coffee time...

...before the walk back to the apartment via Oxford St...

...and Russell Square...

In the evening, we went in search of St Pancras Old Church, taking a route past the British Library...

...and, eventually, becoming reasonably badly lost, we had to seek directions (and some drinks) from the staff at The Constitution...

Eventually we found this beautiful little venue...

...for tonight's gig by Max Jury from Des Moines, Iowa...

...playing to a small (due to the size of the venue rather than his pulling power) but very enthusiastic crowd...

Here are a couple of the best songs from his set, which also included his takes on Lana del Ray's "West Coast" and Neil Young's "Helpless"...

...and here's "Black Metal" recorded at the venue...

Having become so lost earlier, we'd had no evening meal but, post gig, were able to take advantage of one of the many fast food places back at King's Cross and so, very tasty falafel and chicken wraps were partaken of, before we retired for the night..

Highlight of the Day : Being back in that London...
